Hello One and All,

Has anyone ever been camping in France? If so where did you find out about campsites and how did you book?

Thanks for your help as always! :worship:

Are you looking for a pre-erected tent/caravan or to take your own?

If the former, take a look at the Keycamp, Canvas and Eurocamp brochures. Eurocamp also have an independent section where you can book the site and take your own tent/caravan etc. Another company with a vast number of sites is Vacansoleil. Most of these can be booked online or by phone.

Also if you look in the main brochures and see a site you like you can then google the campsite and often the campsite has its own web site where you can book direct. This can work out cheaper if you are happy to arrange your own transport/crossing.

We've camped in France a few times especially when DD was younger and it can make a very enjoyable holiday. Also if you are considering a trip to DLP then there are campsites nearby which makes a cheap way to visit.

Claire, like Ann says there is a few who have mixed a camping trip with a visit to DLP.
Might be worth having a look at the trip reports there and asking for recommendations :)

we've been to DLP 5 times now & each time it was combined with our camping trip to France. We usually go with Canvas & this year it will be our 12th trip with them! Canvas have the best tents but if you are thinking of a mobile home then each company have lots to choose from. But do check prices as they can vary by alot.

Any questions? Ask away

Not only have I been many times with the family, I have also been a holiday rep... as have my brother, sister, and best friend!

I worked for Havan Europe, brother and best mate worked for Keycamp, and Sister worked for Canvas.

I would say you get much the same service and standard of accomodation from all three (and the likes of Eurocamp) so your best bet is to compare prices. If you don't want to book through a company just get one of their brochure google the sites - a lot of them you can book direct as well.

I repped in the Vendee btw - and I wouldn't particularly recommend it as I think there are much nicer areas to go to.

Thanks guys. We will be taking our own tent down to the south of France for about 10 days then stopping outside of Paris on the way home for a trip to DLRP.

Thanks for all the tips.

Soleil Plage and La Paille Basse are both lovely sites down south and Camping International is a good option for Disneyland Paris - or La Croix du Vieux Pont is pretty close too.
