Camping in a van, which site do I pick?

We're thinking of buying an old fashioned camper van to fix up -something like a VW bus- and were wondering if we could use a tent site instead of a full hook up RV site. We'd wouldn't need an electrical, water, or sewer hookup, and we'd be sleeping in the van. The only 'tent' we might set up is a screen pavilion over a picnic table to keep out the bugs. A camper van isn't oversized or very RV-ish, so I assumed it would be fine in the usual tent site parking spot, but I wanted to double check.

Anteprincess,

You are certainly welcome at the Fort. Your van-type camper is actually referred to as a Class B RV (class a is the big bus style, class c is the cab over).

You can legitimately get any of the 4 types of sites at the Fort. Partial/Tent is the cheapest, then Full - Preferred - Premium in order of price. Partial/Tents are loops 1500 and 2000 and do NOT have a sewer hookup.

So yes you would be fine in a tent loop. The fine print specifies Class Bs are suitable for a Tent/Partial site (which are the least expensive type). :surfweb:

PS - if it's a fixer upper we'd love to see some "before" pix.

Please tell me somebody gets this joke.:rotfl2:

Thanks! I'd love to post some photos, but we haven't settled on a specific make/model yet. It's kind of hard deciding between the cheaper but much older vehicles that will take a lot of investment to run reliably and the more expensive newer vehicles. This is definitely a long term project we've been talking about doing for our next big anniversary, so a few years away, though I want to get started as soon as we find a good one.

Sorry, I don't get it. :(

Oh, okay. Well - good luck with your search. You'll be fine whenever you take it to the Fort.

And Barney, I didn't get it either. :confused3 Sorry brother.

To answer the orignal question and to show I get the joke (which is what I first thought of when I saw this post).....

Camping in a van, which site do I pick?

"down by the river......." :rotfl::rotfl2:

Barney:

There is one other option, they could go get their gear and move in with someone at Port Orleans. Riverside of course!
