I am gathering information on bringing a 8 scouts to camp at FW.
I would appericiate some input from folks who have experienced FW.
I am about an hour from the parks, so travel there not critical, but the scout leader wants them to have a "real" camping experience.:thumbsup2
Is there some part of FW that will offer these kids an unique experience.
We are hoping to get the kids in the volunteer program to earn the ticket in, just seems to be the natural fit.
Who knows, maybe I'll just sign up my own familly for FW :banana

Looking forward to your insights!!

There is a group camping area that lots of Scouts use. It is $10 per person, per night. There is a bath house in the area, fire pits, and picnic tables. There is no electric except at the bath house.

Also, I have seen Scout troops that tent camp in Loop 2000 quite a bit. You can have up to 10 people per site, but can only have 2 tents per site. I've seen them set up with a "dining" site with some shelters and the kitchen stuff, then the rest of the Scouts/families are spread out among several sites.

I'm assuming these are Cub Scouts, so that means at least one parent per family.

If it is Boy Scouts, then two leaders and 8 scouts, I would recommend 3 sites. One for the leaders and kitchen, then 2 sites for the boys, 4 boys per site.

The actual sites have water and electric at each site and there is a bath house nearby.

I have taken my girl scout troop..older girls 16+ to FW and we had two sites...there was 14 of us total.

And also 2 Christmas ago...as a BSA Venture Crew there was 10 of us camping at FW. To keep cost down, we only got 1 campsite. We were allowed more then 2 tents at our site since, our Crew is basically a backpacking crew and we only have small backpacking tents. I did call ahead and they said, as long as all the tents fit on the sand pad it was ok with the smaller tents...we had a total of 4 tents at one site.

Both times we were in the partial hook up sites.
