Camping for Beginners

That's true. Never really thought about it because our TT has a nice freezer and we make Ice. Don't need a large volume of it either so it's not been an issue.

Also no Mickey Soap and house keeping doesn't vacuum your grass every day. Only when you checkout. :)

Ah but in fairness, do you know that they cut the "Carpet" once a week at the other resorts? :)

I didn't know about the Mickey Soap. I haven't actually stayed in a regular resort on property other than the Fort. Only visited other resorts.

We were at Bay View Campground. It is right in Bourne so just over the bridge which makes the ride a lot easier than venturing further down the Cape.
It was very clean and seemed like they had a lot of activities for kids.

Hello my uncle is planning on driving his RV to Disneyworld. I told him about Ft Wilderness campgrounds. Do guest get the same perks as the one staying at Disney resort hotels i.e. booking ADR 180+10, Fastpass selectios at 60 day mark?? TIA

Let me put it this way, xfiles3010.

Those poor people who pay all that money to be trapped inside 4 walls inside a little room are lucky to get the same perks as those of us lucky enough to stay at Fort Wilderness.

My campsite at the Fort has plenty of fresh air. It's as big as the all outdoors.

I can sleep in my own bed while I am at Disneyworld.

I meet my neighbors and chat with them - campers are nice folks.

I stayed at the Contemporary a long time ago. Didn't meet anybody around me.

Disney management has decided to give all the other folks the same benefits of staying on-property that they give us at the Fort. I'd say those other folks are mighty lucky.

I kinda feel sorry for all those non-Fort folks. My heart goes out to them.

I love camping. All types of camping. Under the stars, in a tent, on the ground, in a cot, in a Pop-up, Travel Trailer, RV, whatever. I really do love the "Nature" aspect of things. Probably my least favorite form of camping is a cabin unless of course it's more primitive as opposed to a house made to look like a log cabin.

While we can debate about "Perks" (such as house keeping making your bed every day versus cutting the grass), I think anyone who is okay with "Nature" (and an occasional bug, squirrel, or maybe an alligator) would absolutely love the Fort and will enjoy pretty much the same perks as any other WDW Guest and as Ed points out, some that they WON'T get to enjoy.
