Has anyone camped at the Fort Wilderness campsite during marathon weekend? If so, do they provide bus to the starting line?

Thanks!

I don't know for certain, but it would seem that they have something. They advertise that the bus pick up is from all on property resorts. Only thing I am thinking is that it will not go through the camp area to pick up. Probably have to meet at the "front" (Lodge) then? That might probably mean a hike before a race though.

We stayed at Ft. Wilderness for the 2007 marathon weekend and there was transportation from the campground to the race. We didn't use it but saw the sign near the area were you check in if you are staying in a cabin. Hope this was helpful.

Yes, there is transport. The Disney drivers will pick up inside the campground, just like the regular campground transportation. They stop at each bus stop in the CG. Then they take you to the Wilderness Lodge where you meet up with the big bus that will take you to the start line.

It sounds inefficient, but it works really well. Our Disney driver told us that they do it this way because they tried letting the contract companies drive through the campground, but they kept getting lost or stuck in the tight spots the Disney drivers know to avoid. So it was easier to let the regular drivers do the CG and have them meet up with the contracted transportation elsewhere.

I've stayed at FW for the 2006 and 2007 Marathons and have reservations for 2008. I've used the buses every time.

The buses run from the Outpost to the Settlement Depot and pick up at all stops along the "outer" campground side and then head for the WL where you transfer to tour buses. I'm not sure if the same goes for the "inner" campground loop or for the cabins.

Getting back is the reverse.

PS. bring an inflatible kiddie pool if you plan on "icing down" afterwards.
