Camping but visiting other pools?

We're going on a vacation in Dec, 2007 with extended family. My sister's family wants to camp at FW. Our family will be at a deluxe, WL or AKL and then GF.(This is our tenth anniversary therefore want some pampering.) My sister thought that her family could "visit us at our hotel and use our hotel's pool. Now I would think they couldn't, somehow sounds wrong. Am I right?

As long as you are staying at the hotel it is perfectly fine for you to have guests. We did on our stay last summer at the CR and the hotel clerk said it was fine.

Would it really matter if everyone @ a Deluxe invited a few extra friends over for a pool party? Guests are guests no matter what resort they're staying at - everyone's one big happy family @ WDW!...doesn't matter that the Deluxe rooms go for $300 - $500/night & your extended family's paying less than $100, they deserve some pamering too.

The pools are big, plenty of room for everyone. Hey, don't forget to save a few lounge chairs with your towels. Oh, and make sure they park in the spots closest to the hotel, would hate to see them have to walk too far to the pool.

Yes, if you're staying at a resort, you are allowed to have guests visit you at your pool. Just have it ok'd with your front desk first. And have a great time!

Ignore the poolhopping police. You are going to hear alot of people tell you how it is a mortal sin to swim at someone else's pool. If it isn't real busy and your family wants to join you, WDW propbably isn't going to care. As much as some of the people on these boards want to believe they know it all, they don't. Just be sure to get it OKed with the front desk. WDW is the final word, not this board. And for the record, I do not pool hop. In fact we rarely go swimming when we are at Disney. We would rather be having fun in the parks. I can go swimming without having to drive a 1000 miles.

It's different in this case because the OP will be asking to bring guests to their resorts. And that is not up to us, but to the staff at her (?) hotel.

I don't think that kind of reply was necessary. For the record, I wasn't trying to commit a sin. This is why I asked to prevent doing any wrong doing. You could have answered without being so unfriendly.

Actually, I was replying tongue-in-cheek. Since you already knew the answer - but asked anyway; I assumed you were looking for validation - which is why I dredged up all the other questions I've seen asked on these boards...think I covered all the bases for any similar situations.

At least once a month someone will post a similar thread wherein either they want to use a Deluxe pool while staying elsewhere or want to invite guests to join them in their fun. Had a conversation w/a CM wherin they relayed the problems they have, especially during the summer months with this situation. He indicated the problem is especially rife w/locals who pay for 1 room and "load it up", so to speak.

At some resorts the problem (yes, it is pool-hopping!) is so prevalent (Y & BC) that you must, @ all times have resort ID to use the pool. During the high-season the BW also stations a CM to monitor the pool @ all times (too many folks parking @ BW, going into Epcot & taking a quick dip in the pool before they head out).

Bottom line is one of the reasons deluxe resort categories charge more for their rooms is the amenities (including the pool) that they offer. Which is why guests not staying @ the resort are prohibited from using the pool facilities. All are welcome to visit & use most of the other amenities (some have extra fees - exercise facilities, etc.)

BTW, one of the current "percs" offered to DVC members staying as guests is the ability to pool hop to selected resorts if we check in @ front desk & inquire as to capacity issues. This does exclude AK & Y/BC & certain busy times of the year. So, even that gimmie is subject to their discretion if their facilities are full.

Although these boards are a wealth of information, despite what other have posted, to get the definitive answer - call the Resort Desk directly and ask to speak to the Mgr. or Asst.; you'll get all your questions correctly answered.

As for appearing unfriendly, I'll beg to differ...I'm trying to save your extended family the embarassment of being approached by a CM poolside & being asked to leave...as well as hoping to be able to utilize a lounge chair poolside on my next trip.

I called Disney and got the official answer (that I posted above). You are allowed to visit friends/family at their resort pools. This is not considered pool-hopping.

They should always check with their front desk first, just to get "permission" beforehand, but it's usually not a problem. The only problem could be on really busy days (holidays, etc.) when they are expecting the pool to be full already.

Hate to split hairs but, WDW is very clear on registered Resort (w/the prior mentioned DVC exception) guests being permitted only to using the pool they're registered at...

Additionally, while you are permitted to have guests visit you @ the resort you're staying at, they are not granted the same privledges (i.e. usage of amenities) as a registered, paying guest.

Of course, people can interpret rules as they see fit or choose to ignore them entirely. Only responding to the OP's original question.

As I stated, call the resort & ask the manager what that resort's policy is. A reservationist is not the proper individual to grant special pool considerations to you. It's entirely possible to call WDW 3 times w/a specific question and get 3 different answers.

As for being mean, I was very clear in indicating that I was not flaming the OP, merely illustrating why she was, in fact, correct assumming that campers @ FW cannot use another resort's pools.

Directed to the "name-caller", if you can't recognize "innocent comments", perhaps you should stick to lurking behind your keyboard.

On our last trip to FW, the pool was freezing and the "quiet" pool was closed. When we complained, the CM gave us "passes" to use the WL pool for the time we were there. We never did use the WL pool, but it was nice to know that the campers at FW are still considered valued guests at WDW.

Ask the desk and I'm sure you won't have a problem (unless it is a school vacation and the pools are busy). It is always good business to do what you can to make your customers happy, if possible.

FW doesnt have a hot tub and I have asked and been allowed to go use The FWL hot tub many times. The room keys are the same so it doesnt even require a seperate pass. We have also done the same thing with having other friends staying at differant properties and they have enjoyed the crummy pool at FW and we have enjoyed theirs. NO PROBLEMS. Rhonda is correct with her answer. It can never be good to argue with a moderator can it?
