Anyone else here keep a camping/travel blog? Let's see 'em! I love reading trip reports to the Fort here on the DIS, but it would be fun to "travel along" on other adventures with you guys!

We've kept different ones for each of our campers (I started off specific to our Aliner and kept the camper-specific format going forward...in hindsight I should have just done a generic one, but oh well!)

So here are ours:

www.visaadventures.blogspot.com

Enjoyed your blogs! We often visit Indianapolis and hubs loves the speedway!!

I just started reading yours as you had posted a link a couple of days ago to your aliner blog. I showed my husband and he loved some of the mods you have done and I am hoping he will do them to ours. I am not good with keeping up with a blog of my own but I really like how you have kept one for all your camping adventures.

Oh, hey WDWCP96 - I just noticed your ticker - we're really close in our next trip dates! I wonder if we'll overlap? 6/15 - 27 for us. :thumbsup2

I don't have a camping blog but will blog about our camping adventures when we start to have them. We will tent camp but right now we are still in the practicing in the backyard phase with the kids. :)

Awesome! Please share when your adventures begin! Though sometimes Camp Backyard or Camp Driveway yield some fun adventures too :) Happy Camping!

Enjoying your Blog! We are traveling to VA next week from NH and would love to know how you get around NYC. We were thinking of going over the Newburg Bridge and head down 87. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Howdy neighbor!

We take the Newburg Bridge as well, but we skip the city altogether, and we skip the DC area as well when we are going to FL. But when we're going to DC (where we've stayed in Lorton VA) we go out 84 to Scranton and pick up 81. Then we pick up 15 just south of Harrisburg and take it to 270 and pick up 495 to 95. 15 is a nice road and has a lovely rest area on the southbound side.

You don't say where you're headed in VA, though, so I'll detail what we do for FL trips in case it helps:

Same 84 to 81, but stay on 81 out of Harrisburg. Then we pick up 17 in Winchester, VA and take that to drop in to 95 in Fredericksburg, north of Richmond. 17 is a pretty drive as well, lots of rolling pastures.

The 84 to 81 drill adds some mileage and time when you do the straight-up comparison, but to avoid the traffic and congestion it is worth it to us. I think I got this route from someone here on the DIS :thumbsup2 We've done the Tappan Zee to the Garden State and NJ turnpikes, and we've also done the Geo. Washington when towing our pop-up...this 84 to 81 route is a lot more sane for us!

Thanks so much! We are headed to Williamsburg, VA for a few days, then off to DC for the national Zoo.

We were planning on traveling at night to avoid a lot of the congestion, but will certainly keep our original plan of traveling over the bridge in Newburg and then heading south. I like your route suggestions, we went that way in December and there was no traffic. Very peaceful.

We will be traveling back to Ft Wilderness in April!

I don't have a blog but I do have a journal that I have written in about all of our camping adventures. It might be fun to transcribe those entries into a blog! Thanks for the idea!

Ooooh, A resurrected Thread. I like the idea though of a Camping blog. I might have to investigate it.

I haven't started my blog yet. Maybe soon.... I have a trip coming up Columbus day weekend! Maybe that can the first trip!
