Camping at FW

I have always wanted to camp at FW. We never wanted to pull our 5th wheel that far but now have purchased a tent trailer in order to go to Alberta next summer. I'm thinking it would be nice and easy to pull to Fort Wilderness as well. But I'm not sure I would like coming back to a tent trailer when so tired after a day at the parks. What about the showers, are they busy at night (wouldn't have time in the morning I don't think)? What is your "routine" after spending a full day at the parks? What about the bus service. Our last trip we went to Trail's Inn at FW via the WDW bus transportation and it took us awhile to get in and out of FW. About how long does it take to get from the main gate at FW back to the preferred loops?

We have camped at WDW with our pop up 3 times, and had no problems, we now camp with a class C motorhome and still often use the showers in the comfort station with 4 of us it is a lot quicker, it never seem that crowded, and the comfort station are very very clean. We always enjoyed our pop up, and found it confortable to stay in it, we did have AC in it, as we camped in August, and I don't think that I would have done it without the AC.

My routine is as follows and I sleep in a tent.

I get back from the parks at night, change into shower shoes, and grab my backpack which has toiletries, towel, wash cloth, and pajamas. I also grab my laundry bag. I drop the laundry in the wash and head for the shower (the laundry room is right in the middle of men's and women's rooms). After my shower is over, I drop by the laundry room again and transfer my clothes to the dryer. I then walk back to my campsite and put my dirty clothes in my pile and put fresh clothes for the next morning in my backpack. Then I get on the computer for a few minutes and check email and download pictures, then I walk back to the laundry room and grab my dry clothes, put them away, and go to bed.

The next morning, I grab my backpack, walk to the shower house, use the restroom, then use one of the shower stalls to get dressed, run a brush through my hair and put on foundation(sunscreen) walk back to the campsite, put my backpack away and head for the parks!!

We have a pop-up and camp at Disney frequently. I always shower in the evening as they are usually not busy at that time. I wouldn't try to take one in the morning and they are usually crowded.

We find it very relaxing to pop up camp at Disney. I would plan on bringing your bikes. It makes transportation within the campgroun much easier when you don't rely on the internal buses. The boat to the Magic Kingdom is pretty easy to catch and doesn't have a long wait. To get to EPOC we take a bus from the Pioneer Hall area to the TT&C and catch the monorail. For MGM and AK we usually take our personal vehicle (parking is free when you stay on property).

That bus was discontinued about a year ago. There is a bus that goes back and forth to Wilderness Lodge, then on to Magic Kingdom.

There is a direct bus to Epcot from the Outpost bus stop.

Now, having said that, currently they are TEMPORARILY running the Ft. Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge, TTC bus because there is construction going on at the Magic Kingdom bus stop.

Bus options within the campground are as follows:

Magic Kingdom - internal bus to Settlement, Boat to Magic Kingdom OR
internal bus to Settlement, bus to Wilderness Lodge, TTC, then monorail or ferry to MK OR
internal bus to Settlement, boat to Contemporary, walk to Magic Kingdom

Studios - internal bus to Settlement, bus to Studios

Animal Kingdom - internal bus to Outpost, bus to Animal Kingdom

Epcot - internal bus to Outpost, bus to Epcot OR
internal bus to Settlement, bus to Wilderness Lodge, TTC, then monorail to Epcot

Water Parks - internal bus to Outpost, bus to waterpark

Downtown Disney - internal bus to Outpost, bus to DTD

Actually, I'd love to, but what it would cost us to tow it down there would more than pay for a room in a deluxe resort!!! It costs us close to $50/hour in gas to tow it , so needless to say, it doesn't go too far from home!

We have a 27 footer Class C motorhome, but the shower is quite small. There is usually five of us at any given time, so everyone showers at the comfort station. Whether or not it will be crowded, all depends what time you go. But there are usually at least 3-4 showers at each station. Usually when the showers are backed up, people are pretty quick about taking them, so you may not have to wait all that long. We usually never do.
And we always bring our bikes to get around inside the campground, so we only use the WDW buses when we go somewhere outside FW.
