Campground using VWL pool

Does anyone know if campers are allowed to use the pool at VWL and WL? It seems like I heard a lot of conversations about "the campground" from people at the pool last time I stayed at VWL. If not, is their anything in place to stop the pool hoppers?

They are not supposed to use the WL pool or the pool at VWL.

The WL pool is so crowded and many times it is hard to find a chair.

I've heard that Disney is now starting to ask people for resort ID at the WL pool and many people from FW and elsewhere have been asked to leave the pool area.

I also think that Disney should add a slide to the pool at FW. Almost every other resort has a pool slide. I think they would have many happy people if they did.

Hope this helps.:sunny:

Someone posted on the Resorts board that last summer they stayed at the campground and were told by Disney staff to use the pool at the lodge.

I think we need some definite clarification on this one. If this is true, no wonder it's so bad.

We just came home a week ago from the campground at FW. We were told absolutely "No Pool Hopping" as soon as we received our resort ID's. We have stayed at the campground every year for the last 10 years and never pool hopped. I always loved the campground pools because they were never crowded. All I saw that is different this year is that they were crowded! Maybe there were a lot more hoppers out there than you would think! I would love to know if the WL pools were crowded the last week in March. Anyway, we just closed on our VWL points and I'm anxious to book our next vacation!! No more camping for me :earsgirl:

We stayed at WL on points the year it opened. They were having a problem then with 'campers' and others using the pool. When a new resort opens lots of folks 'take a tour'. Just looking around to check out the resort. I do this - walk around a resort, shop in the store and eat at the restaurant(s). But some people take it too far and feel that they have the right to use all the facilities when they are not paying guests at that resort!
When we stayed at WL that first year it opened we were asked to bring room towels to use at the pool and then call housekeeping for fresh towels for our room. (This was before they were asking for resort IDs to get pool towels.) It really was annoying when we couldn't get chairs around the pool. Not to mention some of the antics that were going on. And many people admitted that they were not WL guests but campground guests or others. Sheesh, and those who are paying for the resort (cash or points) are being short changed. I hope that this does not become an issue when they open the slide at OKW!:worried:

in my experience, wl will check resort ids when it is peak season and busy, but when it isn't it is common to see bikes from ft. wilderness parked by trout pass, etc.

We pool hopped (we are DVC members) to WL in March and thought is was a bit crowded. It made me feel weird about using a pool at a resort where people were paying but WL pool is not on the no-no list for pool hopping for DVC so we tried it. No one asked us for ID the whole time we were there. I wonder how many people sneak into SAB at BC? We stayed at the AKL and I know they have no pool hopping there but to tell you the truth I don't see anything that special about the pool anyway.

I had to produce resort and DVC Blue Card for access to the health club (Sturdy Branches) at VWL but as for the pool, was not asked for ID in Feb - the quiet pool was well quiet but the main pool was pretty busy

I believe the pool at AKL is restricted due to being only one pool for the whole resort (no quiet pool) and as such there are probably capacity issues - the zero entry feature is nice.

As for SAB, a few have reported being able to get in without being asked or ever checked for a wristband - I am confident there are many more who have been bounced out of SAB for being there without being allowed

thanks

jaysue - good point about only one pool at AKL. I had also always thought also it was because of the number of visitors to AKL to see the animals and how busy Boma is. It's probably just a popular resort to visit.

I have stayed at BCV twice now and have seen many, many people who do not have wristbands. And they don't have pool towels either - they can't get any without a room key. I doubt they could use the slide either - someone would notice?

On the other hand, we were never asked for 5 room keys when we all went to get towels/wristband - all they ever saw was one for the whole group.

While staying at BWV, we've pool hopped over to VWL a few times... Mostly just to make an afternoon of swimming, and then eating at Whispering Canyon... Love that BBQ.. :D

This summer, while we are at FW and CBR, I would imagine that we will not pool hop to WL... The pools at FW look they'll do the job just fine for a nice quiet vacation...

However, my DS3 loves the elephants at Luna Park, so if we pool hop anywhere, it'd be back at our home resort....
