Thinking about trying out the FW Campfire and movie this trip. Is this a worth while event? Travelling with DK's 8,6 and 4. Also, how far do you need to walk to get to campfire if you drive yourself from another resort. Thanks!

You'll have to park in the Outpost parking lot and take an internal FW bus to the Meadows Trading Post.

The campfire grounds are located behind the trading post and to the left.

My grandkids (7 and 8) really enjoy roasting marshmallows and the sing-along portion of the campfire ... the two times we've gone we've left when the movie starts.

Most people probably won't agree with me - but I just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

I have attended the campfire/movie, but I wouldn't do it again (unless I was staying at FW)

It took a lot of time and effort to actually GET to the campfire. First you have to get to FW (bus or boat), then you have to walk to another bus, then you have to walk to the campfire area. I just don't think the trouble was worth it. Don't get me wrong - everybody there seemed to be enjoying themselves. But, it was a lot of travel time to do something that late at night with young kids (mine were 7 and 20 months).

Just my opinion.....

Have fun at WDW!

We stay at the cabins at Ft. W and we do the campfire at least once during our trip. It is a lot of fun - sing-a-long with Chip & Dale, roasting marshmallows, making smores and then watching a movie on the outdoor screen.

You can drive yourself to the Ft.W Outpost - same parking as HoopDeeDoo. Then take an internal bus to Meadows Trading Post. It is a short walk from the bus stop. If you are staying at a MK resort - then you can take monorail to Contemporary and then take resort boat to Ft. W. Wildnerness Lodge also has a resort boat to Ft. W.

You can buy roasting sticks (33cents each) and bags of marshmallows and smore kits - all pretty reasonably priced.

If you are going during the off peak times when the parks close early then this would be a fun night time event.

I think it's great. If you can spare the time. Maybe do a 1/2 day at a park, return to your resort & nap. Then off to FW.

We're planning on staying at the Contemporary, so that seems like a quick trip on the boat over to FW.

It sounds like something fun to do in the evening with my 2 little ones while my husband and teenager go off to do the "big" rides. How much does this event cost? How long does it last? We're planning on going the first week of December, does anyone have a schedule for when they do this?

TIA

Mary

I'm not sure how long it lasts, but it's free to all Disney resort guests....gotta like the price!

WOW! I just assumed since it was Disney it was going to cost something...lol.

Do you have to be a resort guest? I was under the impression that anyone (even those staying offsite) could go. I really want to take my kids to this but we rented a vacation home.( Although if Disney ever makes a value resort that sleeps 5 we'd definately be there!)

Thanks,
Kimba

The campfire is held in an open area and even if it is supposed to be for resort guests (which I've not heard) there is no way anyone can check. To me it is just like checking out any other resort--you may become a convert!

In December the fun starts at 7 with the campfires being lit a little before. There is a little singing before Chip and Dale come out and then more singing while they visit with the kids. Then after the singing the movie will begin. Some people stay for the movie and some don't. It's FW--aka heaven on earth!--so you do what you want! Bring a cooler, buy snacks, wear your pajamas--we don't care!!
