Can anyone tell me if the campfire at Fort Wildeness is the same as Mickey's backyard bbq and if they are 2 diffrent events which one would you recommend for family of 6 4adults one 6 yr old and 1 two yr old

Haven't done Mickeys but did the campfire this year, it was great definately on my list to do again and again, great atmosphere, a sing song, toasted marshmallows and a disney movie under the stars - what more could anyone want?

I think they are quite different events, so you could even do both ;)

Carol describes the campfire, which is free and you can just turn up for :)

The BBQ includes all-you-can-eat food (and certain drink), country dancing with characters etc and costs $39.01 for adults and $25 for children (ages up to 9). It is recommend that you pre-book this :)

Did Mickey's Backyard BBQ many years ago without knowing too much about it - without children. Although it wasn't the best night we'd had at Disney, I would definately recommended it to families as they had the most fun! :cool1: We would maybe return, now that we have DD! :goodvibes

I will say, beware of the "free" beer and wine - we witnessed two children having to carry their mother out to the bus at the end - not a pretty sight! :(

Haven't done the Campfire, but we are thinking about it for later this year - can anyone attend or do you have to be a guest at one of the Disney hotels?

I'm also thinking about the hay rides or carriage rides around Fort Wilderness!

Oh dear!!! :rotfl2:

Hi Tink, too - we were staying at the all star movies this year, you don't need to be staying on-site to attend the campfire although its a bit of a trek to get there so its probably all on-siters and fort wilderness people who go!!

Thanks for this thread have added both to our list of possibilities :)

Hi

All Ears it sais the campfire is for WDW guests. I cant find it on the WDW site, so I might email them and ask.

Did anyone confrim whether the campfire is only for on site guests or not??

I don't think its specifically for on-site guests, at least noone asked to see any form on room I.D. Its probably mostly frequented by on-siters though, as most off-site people probably don't know its there! also it is a bit of a hike to get there so is more convenient for on-siters.

I'm also interested in Mickey's BBQ. Does anyone know if it's included in the Dining Plan?
