Is it worth goign or not??
Diane

Depends really on the ages of your children. It is a cute time, with the making of smores, sing-a-longs, Chip and Dale, and then the movie. We enjoyed it when the kids were much smaller, and when the movie was more of a treat before they were all released on video to be watched a gazillion times.

But if you are looking to have a laid-back evening for a change, it is definately worth going.

we are driving down on 5/18 and thinking we should get there about 3-4, check in the go to the petting zoo etc, do dinner and backfor the camp fire. I thought it might be a good way to kick off the disney spirit.

FW is some of my favorite memories growing up! We camped there every year until I went to college. My brother and I adored going to the campfire and seeing the movies! I still remember watching the original Freaky Friday there (not dating myself too much?). My grandfather always got me the frozen banana at the concession stand. Your kids will love FW! The petting zoo, tram, and awesome playgrounds. We're thinking of going there our 1st night too!

Have fun!~

I thought I read that the petting zoo was being closed? Maybe just a rumor??

We loved taking our children to the campfire the two times we stayed at FW. I personally wouldn't do it if I was staying somewhere else. It is charming and lowkey but you have to first get to FW and then take an internal bus. Too much other Disney magic all around to go to that bother. YMMV.

We are staying at the Contemporary and thought about attending this one night. Isn't there a boat that takes you from Contemporary to FW? After you get there how would you get to the event? Also if we went early is there somewhere to eat dinner at FW - not the character meal?

There is a boat from CR to FW. From the dock, you would need to walk past the building that houses Hoop dee Doo (which isn't a character meal but rather a dinner show) as well as Trail's End Cafe. We haven't eaten at Trail's End for years but people on the boards like it. I think it is still cafeteria style all you can eat. Pizza used to be available in that area too at night. Not sure if it still is.

Anyway, you walk past that large building and down the path to a bus stop. There are signs to help. At the bus stop, you catch a bus to the campfire.
