Ok...DD13 is in day camp, but a semi travel. They do day trips 3 days a week. They need to wear camp shirts for each trip. I figured for the exorbitant (really exhoribitant) cost of camp that they would provide 3 shirts. Nope..I am wrong, only one shirt. So either DD will wear a dirty shirt or I am supposed to do laundry every Tuesday and Weds so she has a clean shirt to wear!!

I am really really annoyed by this. :confused3

A trick is to wear a plain white t-shirt as a undershirt under the camp shirt. Helps soak up sweat to provide one more layer. Might get an extra day or two wear from it.

You could also fluff it in the dryer with a dryer sheet for a few minutes to make it smell fresh between wearings.

Most camps give you a chance to buy extra shirts. I really don't see it as that big a deal! My daughter has only been to one camp that provided more then one shirt. It was a residential camp. The others that provided one shirt were day camps and she had to wear it every day. I bought an extra and did laundry. You can always hand wash it and hang it to dry over night.

Thanks for the suggestion...but wearing 2 t-shirts in hot humid weather is a tad cruel..

I had her wear a camisole under it, in case it got too hot and she would be able to take it off.

I feel your pain. We are going through the same things with a baseball shirt.....games 4 nights in a row, the shirt gets dirty/sweaty and needs daily washing.

Sorry, but it's really no different than having one baseball uniform(or other sport) or one work uniform. There's always laundry to do!

Well buying extra was not presented as an option. And to be perfectly honest for 6k, they should give this small group of kids that do this travel program (only 2 groups boys and girls) 3 shirts.

Well it is a big deal since they are sent to this camp for the perks... Perk 1) I don't have to prepare lunches 2) they provide towels (see I don't have to do laundry) 3) they launder the kids bath suits (see I don't have to do laundry) 4) air condition transportation

Yes, the perks are great which is why my kids are sent there. That is why this suprises me and bothers me.

I do enough laudnry over the summer on weekends with towels and stuff to have to do it during the week too. I really don't want to do extra laundry!! I also don't want to waste soap and water just for 1 shirt..

I am very thankful my kids aren't into sports!

But are you paying thousands of dollars for your kids to play sports?

I was just giving a general example. Personally, older DS only has one work uniform. And all the money we put into travel sports they did at least get two uniforms. Except the one year DS had 5!(sponsor went overboard) Yes, I agree. At that price, they should supply more shirts and launder them too!

Seems like a camp that costly expecting kids to wear shirts two or more days in a row could throw in an extra t-shirt, on the other hand all of these activities try to make as money as they can. I can see why the OP would want to blow off some steam.

I think the least they could do is offer to let you purchase an extra shirt.

DD is 13. She can do laundry. ;) . Let her do a full load when her shirt needs washed. Gives you a bit of a break. JMHO.

For what you are getting, I would not be comlaining about only 1 shirt. None of those perks are even offered by ANY camp that I know of here, and I ran a summer camp for 4 years.

Oh on the camp my DD went to with Church was very expensive and she had to buy her shirt. So I guess I would have been thrilled for her to have been given a shirt.

She actually does do laudnry...but getting her to put it in and then take it outta the dryer so others can do theirs... :scared1:!!

Well when this camp started 11 years ago they wanted to get kids to come from the other camps.. so air conditioned transportation, towels and such were incentives. Others in the area have done some similar things. But the camp has cut back with some things they offered in previous years. For 6k I will complain about only getting 1 shirt!! We live in very different areas and have very different expecations I guess.

Why buy extra shirts that they won't wear? It really doesn't take that long to run things through on a short, small load.

Mine is at a scouting day camp this week. One shirt. But I also have her towel and a swimsuit to rinse out each night.

For that amount of money you should have just sent her away to residential camp and she would have done her own laundry!

I did and do pay large sums of money for my daughters activities but only one shirt when she was going to be home every night with access to a washer and dryer would not be a cause for concern or complaint. Just ask if you can buy another one!

Good Luck!

No kidding....that's alot of money for daycamp! I'd be sending the kid to sleepover camp for that much money.

How much is an extra t shirt? If you can spend 6K for day camp, what's another $20 for a shirt? :confused3
