Just wondering if there are better rv hook up sites for an for me and four kids. We will be renting a RV but won't be able to rent a golf cart. Is it necessary to pay for a preferred site?
Thanks

Depends on where you want to be.

If you buy a Full campsite (loops 1600-1900) you are close to the middle of the Fort where the pool, Meadow Trading Post, and Campfire/movie area is. It's a 10/15-minute walk or so to the Trails End/beach/Settlement area of the Fort (or an internal bus ride).

Preferred Loops (100-300) are down at the Trails End/beach/Settlement area and convenient for boat or bus transport, nightly fireworks and water shows, and more. But in the other directions it's a short walk or bus ride up to the pool et. al area.

Preferred is more expensive than a Full but are equipped the same in terms of utilities, driveway, sand pad, grill, and picnic table. I've stayed at both ends of the Fort (a Preferred this most recent trip and a Tent site which was right next to a Full loop the trip before that) so it's up to you. Sometimes the cost difference per night is measurable and across several nights it can add up.

IMO nobody NEEDS a golf cart at the Fort (me and my kids walk or bring bikes) so don't let that worry you. Personally I have other things I want to spend my money on. Tell us how your trip goes or come on back and ask more questions.

If it's a pop up rental 1500 is right in the middle of everything. If it's a travel trailer full hook up 1600 1700 1800 1900 is close to the middle also. I like 1600 and 1800 best. :thumbsup2

When I was a kid we always liked the 1000 loop. We actually liked it better than the preferred loops as we felt it was closer to everything. The 1000 loop is right across the street from the pool and one of the trading posts.

Only thing is we always had a tent so I don't know if that loop has full hook up sites or not. Also, I have no idea if they have changed how the loops are numbered since then.
