I need an opinion. Next Christmas me my then will be husband, sister and brother-in-law and there son and two sets of parents are talking about taking a trip to disney in a motorhome and a 5th wheel, but would be driving from Virginia. After the cost of gas do you think we would come out better just to drive down and stay in a hotel?

It would depend on the Hotel, some of them at 2 nights would equal the cost of gas. I think since you have the campers you would probably enjoy FW, We have have stayed at the Hotels many times but we now stay mostly at FW.
Fw is most likely nicer than any campground you have stayed at and you will have your own beds and actually more room.

In my personal opinion, with the price of gas, camper payment, insurance, campground fees, and all the stuff you buy for camping. You dont save a penny over staying in a hotel.... but that being said. I LOVE IT!! We don't do it to save money, it a way of life for us, camping is about the experiences that you have. The friends you meet and the places you can go. When is the last time you were at a hotel and started a conversation with your neighbor? Campgrounds are full of our kind of people, and thats why we love the fort, and just about every other campground for that mater.
Until gas hits $8 a gallon that is:scared1:

We camped the first time, then went to the All Star Music the second time. When we visited Ft. Wilderness on our 2nd trip, Boy did we miss it. If money is the main factor, then calculate it. For us and as many as go with us, it's always cheaper to camp. We are camping next year since we felt we missed somethig by not staying at Ft. Wilderness this year. It gets you away from all the hustle and bustle while you're there.

It sounds to me that with that many people going you would need a villa or several rooms to fit everyone. Just remember that it's a lot easier to step outside at FW for a little personal space if you start to get on each others nerves. You can't do that as easily if you're packed in cramped rooms.
The thing you need to ask the most is how much do you like camping?
