Camera vs. Computer

I am fairly new to the digital camera experience. I've noticed that I've taken some very nice pictures that turn out bright and vibrant on the camera, but when I transfer them to the computer they come out very dull and dark looking. Is there a setting I can adjust, so the picture I have on the camera will look the same on my PC? It's almost like they are two completely different photographs sometimes. It is especially troubling when I shoot videos with the camera. They look wonderful on the camera, but I can barely make out the subject on the computer. Am I doing something wrong?

I am using an Olympus C-5500 Sport Zoom and Olympus Photo editing software that came with the camera.

I'd appreciate any help anyone might have to offer.

1. you need to calibrate your PC monitor so the colour is not off. Set colour temp to 6500 K, set the brightness and contrast so you can see all the gradations

Then play with your Photoshop CS2 for your maximum enjoyment! :thumbsup2

Would the smaller screen on the camera make the pic look brighter just to start with???and then would the monitor on the PC make it look different depending on whether it is a CRT vs FP..and the resolution of the screen itself..just for starters.

not really, when perfectly calibrated, regardless of screen the colour will be an exact match. (one of DH's jobs is calibrating monitors for home theatre, studios and post-production facilities)

I've been having the same issue. Its a pain in the rear. My printed pics look like what the camera has, but not what the computer has. I've been playing around the setting on my computer and its been getting better. One place I went to on the web suggested having your color management set to SRGB Color Space Profile. Thats also helped mine. My monitor is also about 8 years old, so its definately not calibrated. I guess I should look into getting that done.
