Camera strap

As the resident black sheep here, I went a completely different direction for a strap, and got a Kata Reflex E strap. Made of a soft elastic material that breathes and keeps your neck dry from sweat, it can be adjusted to any length, has quick release straps, has two small pouches at either end for storing extra flash cards or batteries (or any other small thing you want). It's wonderfully comfortable - I walk miles every weekend with this strap with my DSLR and a huge 200-500mm birding lens. When I don't feel like carrying it around my neck, I coil it twice around my wrist, and carry my camera by the grip with the strap acting as a wrist strap. It's black, mostly unadorned (very tiny Kata symbol on the ends), strong, and flexible.

How does the WDW camera strap compare to all of these? I was thinking of getting one next month for my S3, but some of these sound pretty appealing...

I'm not sure which WDW strap you're talking about. Many years ago we bought the strap that looks like the B&W film strip with Mickey on it. It was a strap just like the one that came with my Canon. We use it on my tripod bag instead of the camera :thumbsup2.

Thanks, that's the one I was thinking of. I'll have to look and see what else they have, wasn't aware that there's a variety :thumbsup2

I have not seen the film strip one in years...This is the one they have now...

It's the wide version...They also have a skinny version for much smaller camera's. It's neoprene and I think it's a lot like the black one I have with Mickey parts on it (not available anymore) which I absolutely LOVE on my S5 IS.

DH bought the skinny version for his camcorder and says it's too narrow and digs in a bit on his neck. He thinks this wider version would be great though.

Does anyone know if this one is neoprene?

I want one bad...

It works quite well for a woman if you know what I mean. And surprisingly it was only $13. The camera store I bought mine at, was really nice. I was iffy about it, so they took a 40D off the shelf put a lens on, and told me to walk around the store and then around the block to see if I liked it. SOLD! There definitely is a learning curve, but it is so comfy for me. I also like that you can buy additional clips if you have multiple bodies.

i usually carry it lens forward though , not sure how i would like the lens glass being behind me where i can't see someone running into me and banging it but guessing you need to in order to shoot as shown. would you be able to turn the body around ? but it looks like a basically very good idea

I use the Black Rapid strap and carry my camera in front of me instead of in back or on the side. It works just fine that way.

I'm also a big fan of the OpTech strap. I usually carry a backpack in the parks and the Black Rapid strap doesn't work with a pack.

This is exactly what I'm thinking! I want one of these harness system for just this reason! I just got back from WDW and noticed the photopass photographers wear these harness systems and it sent me on a search to find one. I think it would greatly alleviate the pain in the neck that my camera seems to cause!

I've got several Op/Tech straps, and they are the best traditional camera straps that I've used. My favorite, though, is the Black Rapid. It's so much nicer to use than a traditional strap. I had to complaints with the original version - the connector is clunky and not sufficiently secure. They redesigned the connector to address both faults. I just ordered their kit for carrying two cameras at once. Now I'll be an extreme photographer geek. OK, I'll be an even more extreme photographer geek.

What's your preference? I'm getting ready to order and would like to know which one is preferred by users.

Thanks, everyone. I just ordered the plain Pro from Adorama. Hope it's here before I leave next Friday!

Looking for feedback from anyone who uses/has used a hand or wrist strap for their dSLR.

Likes, dislikes, thoughts, recommended brands?

I know BobQuincy uses one. I am sure as soon as he sees this he will respond!

He is such a nice guy!!!!!
