Need some help, since I have no knowledge of digital cameras, our last one broke when my DH dropped it, I can't say I was entirely disappointed!!

Here are the things I am looking for, hoping someone can suggest a good camera.

1) Good night shots
2) A good zoom that doesn't blur when I use it.
3) Is there such a thing that when I take a picture of something moving it doesn't turn out blurry?
4) I need it to be somewhat idiot proof, point and shoot for the most part.
5) Under $250.00 would be great!

Thanks for the help!

1) If they are motion shots like Spectro, then you have a conflict with #5. Pretty much any camera can take good low light shots of stationary subjects when you use a tripod.
2) Look for image stabilization.
3) You need a fast shutter speed. If the lighting is good, then it is not much of a problem for any camera. You might need to learn how to control it better though. Also, look for a sports mode in the auto modes to do better without learning more.
4) All but the highest end cameras (i.e. $2K or more) have complete auto modes. You really should learn more to get the most out of any camera. There is no such thing as a perfect auto mode.
5) There should be some super zoom models in this price range that will satisfy most of your needs. Consider buying something that is "last year's model", but still being sold as new, to get the most for your money.
