Where is the best place to purchase a camera pls in Orlando?

I didn't get mine from Wal Mart but it is where i'd reccomend to get one as if you have any problems you can always take it back Asda.
A generral good Camera shop is the Ritz chain. steer clear of the electrical shops on the 192 and IDrive as I've heard some bad report about them on the boards.

I'd echo the advice re outlets on 192 and I drive.

Any of the shops in the major malls would be OK.

Also make sure you have priced the model(s) you want before you go, it's not guaranteed you'll get a bargain just because its priced in $ so check.
Also make sure you can source any accessories you might want in the future from over here at a decent price.

Two years ago I also went to one for a battery and the clown who served me tried to tell me that my brand new Sony DVD-Camera was a load of rubbish and I should buy this camera from him - I'm not kidding when I say it was rather old - I had fits of laughter (along with my son who was 14 then. I left without buying the battery.

I intend buying a flash for my Canon DSLR next month and I believe there is a very good camera store near the Florida Mall - I just can't remember the name at present.

I can recommend Ritz at the Florida Mall. The men there are all older chaps who have seen life and they are all photographers. They are not paid on commission basis.

Over two visits they helped my son for maybe an hour and a half select the right camera for him and the right parts. My Son bought an Olympus Evolt E500 SLR and twin zoom lens kit plus some memory cards and some UV filters.

They are major stockists for

Nikon
Canon

and lesser for

Olympus
Pentax

They offer the same helpfull service as my old friend Mick at Janet Green Photographic in Halifax

Do your research and buy at the right time in UK, buy with discount codes and via a cashback site. Unless you are buying a camera worth £1,000+ there is little chance of saving enough to be worthwhile. Don't compare with Jessops, use Kelkoo, Pricerunner etc and find the cheapest.

I went in to buy camcorder battery on 192, tried selling me wrong one, they don't know what they are talking about in some places.

My Brother went in a store to buy camera a few years ago, picked out bargain from the window, paid by credit card. They went to get it from stock, came back and said they had sold out but they had this great offer on another model, could knock a little more off and do it same price. Luckily my brother knew the value of this other camera and it was worth less than half what they wanted to charge. He had a right job getting them to credit is credit card and get out the store, its a scam I have heard of a few times, sell you something they don't have then get you to buy something overpriced.

Cameras are so cheap here I wouldn't entertain buying there but I buy online, not one for going to Walmart or a camera shops on my hols.

My son paid $650 for the twin lens kit Olympus with full international warranty. at the time we were getting $2.03 to the £sterling. so it cost him £325 for a twin lens kit digital slr.

Cheapest price we saw online at the time ( he has intenet access all the time) was £440 so he saved a few bob. I think full retail was near to the £550 mark

My next camera will be bought in the UK however, and from a real shop. Probably Janet Green Photgraphic in Halifax. I have been buying cameras from Mick there for over 25 years and he is a real gent.

Sorry I meant to say in my previous post unless buying a camera over $1,000 not £1,000 so the one you got was quite possibly worth buying over there, generally people want a point and shoot compact, they are usually not worth buying in US.

$819 + tax is £434 (at $2/£1)

£447.98 here. I have not looked but other participating dealers could be cheaper with the £50 cashback, plus if you can find a dealer with a discount code +cashback via Quidco you will probably beat US price. Great camera, I have had the 350D and now have 400D, keep considering selling and getting this.

Thank you. Still considering what to do, to go for the Canon or the A350 from Sony, as I already have Minolta lenses. Waiting for advise from the Photo thread on this site re the lenses.

I've done a great deal of research into buying a Canon Speedlite 580EX (MkII) and the cheapest I can get it in the UK is around £266.00 (inc p+p). In the US, just checking two or three places, I can get it in Office Depot fo £234.00 inc tax.
