camera purchase in Florida

I've done a great deal of research into buying a Canon Speedlite 580EX (MkII) and the cheapest I can get it in the UK is around £266.00 (inc p+p). In the US, just checking two or three places, I can get it in Office Depot fo £234.00 inc tax.

Hi David, Can't beat it but a price match. I would even pay a few £ more to buy in UK, I am not a fan of shopping so prefer things delivered to my door. Other people don't mind giving holiday time up for shopping.

Sorry I meant to say in my previous post unless buying a camera over $1,000 not £1,000 so the one you got was quite possibly worth buying over there, generally people want a point and shoot compact, they are usually not worth buying in US.

I brought my camera from wal mart last year as mine stopped working, so it was either buy a new camera or no holiday pictures.

Im going to buy a camera also when I get there. We bought an ipod 2 years ago from there. This was definately a good place to buy from. Just off I Drive next to Target. We got the I trolley but you need to get on two so just hop on a taxi if your not driving. Circuit City looks a like our currys or comet. They are also on the internet so you can check if they have the camera before you go. Target is very good also

Even with the great exchange rate, I'd echo all those who recommend buying here, rather than over there!
We love shopping in Florida, but when I've looked, and we've been in most stores which sell camera e.g. Costco, Circuit City, Walmart etc, the prices are usually within a stones throw of the Uk price. If you buy here, you have some come back if it goes wrong (although I'm sure some of them have robust international warranties) and you also cant get stung by customs on the way back into the Uk! That said, we never see any customs officers usually!!! (I'll still have photocopies of receipts for all my electronic stuff, just in case!)
We've just bought a Pentax W60, which is released here in the Uk next month. Bought it on line from a Uk retailer, with a warranty. I have to admit, I was preparing myself to buy when we got there, even went to the trouble of printing off all the Ritz camera store locations, but happily, managed to source one here. Just hope it arrives before we leave next week!!!!
