Please recommend a digital camera for me to purchase before my next trip to WDW in about 6 weeks. Here is what I need...a fairly compact (no large extending lenses for example), must take quality pictures that I can print up to 8X10, must take pics quickly one after another (my current camera although great quality...takes forever between pics). I don't want to have to put it into a doc to download. So...what do you recommend? I have a Fugi that is one step down from an SLR but it is 6 years old and a little too big/clunky (looks like you are carrying a 35mm SLR).

Share your thoughts please and if you have a preferred store/site.

Thanks
Kim

all of the players have good compact cameras nowadays. Canon, Olympus, Nikon, Fuji, and others, all can do what you want.

Each person has different ideas on what a "good camera" is.

The best suggestion I can give is to go to http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.asp It will ask you questions, and then give you some idea of what's out there, showing each camera, with their specs.

The more questions that you answer specifically, and not a default answer, the better result.

Good luck.

P.S. While I currently use a 20d and 40D from Canon, I've also used a Nikon and Olympus compact all-in-one, and they were both fine.

Your looking for a major P/S slash Micro DSL... one of the best out there is the Canon G10.. I have the Canon G9 and often carry it when I dont want to carry my DSLR..

Check our DP Previews and see how well it is rated.

One thing that hasn't changed over the years is that the very most important part of any camera is the lens itself.

Canon makes the best quality lenses, plain and simple, and that's the brand we always go with... Never been disappointed.

Pick a Canon in your price range, (surprisingly, Camera shops will often have the best prices, not 'Best Buy' and places like that, plus you'll get one on one service with someone that knows what they are doing) and I'm sure you'll wind up with some great photographs.

I don't normally post on here, but I have to say I just bought the G10 and so far I absolutely love it! My dad has the G9 and talked me into the G10. Not for the first time in my 42 yrs I'm glad I listened to him LOL

You should consider asking your question on the photography board here as well. There's a lot of information there.

If you want compact, I would check out the Canon ELPH's. I use a NIkon SLR for most of my photos, but the ELPH is always with me when I don't want the bulk. It has a great zoom capability and takes photos printable to 8x10, although I don't print larger than 5x7 usually. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to take the fireworks pictures. The colors are amazing. My DH just got a 10mp camera, so it should be awesome.

Have a nice day everyone. :)
