Help! Can we talk about cameras for a minute ;)
I am pretty good with Canon S95 P&S and I just bought a Canon Rebel T3i. I never used a DSLR before and I bought it to take to DW in Oct. The original plan was to practice, practice, practice. But life gets in the way of that. Therefore, I am debating if I should stick with what I know and use my P&S or try to get decent pictures with my DSLR. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
-BC

IMO, and I have the same camera, the DSLR on auto shoots better than the point and shoot, so even if you haven't mastered the DSLR, I would take it.

Ok, answered and moved before I finished. Nothing more to add on my part.

Take the Rebel and get a book. Understanding Exposure is a good one. Practice is good but practice without having a clue what you're doing can waste a lot of time.

Agree with everything the previous posters said!

OP, I was in your exact situation a few years back, when travelling to Europe. I tossed my P&S, took my brand new dslr, practiced as I go (with lots of auto mode) and didn't regret a thing! It was one the best and most fun practice opportunities I've had ;)

Trey Ratcliff over at StuckInCustoms.com has some great camera recommendations

Thank you for everyone's great insight. I will be definitely be taking my DSLR with me.... I'll just keep my P&S in my back pocket.

Hopefully, I'll have some great pictures to share on the board.

Thanks again for everyone's help with making my decision. :worship:

Any camera bag recommendations out there:

Right now my plan is.... Crumpler Industry Disgrace Camera Strap + FlexARMOR X Digital SLR Camera Sleeve Case and carrying in a backpack with everything else.
