Hi! I just wanted to ask my Disboard family peoples...
Which kids camera would you think is best for a 7 yr old boy?

I was thinking of the one I think is by Fisher Price but I wonder if I am better off just getting him a small Kodak or Sony camera for the money- He is pretty responsible and loves to take pictures (although very "kid" pictures still right now, which is fine...) Mainly, we are looking to get a camera for each of our kids who don't already have one- Our idea being, we want to let them get pictures of what they really seeem to enjoy at WDW as well- I think it will be so nice to add to a scrapbook, no matter how bad the photo actually turns out- It is their "perspective" of our trip!
Our youngest is our 7 yr old and the others are aged 10, 12, 16, & 17
My 12 yr old DD has a few cameras and has been taking pictures for about 3 years although not seriously- just of friends and such-
My 17 yr old has an older camera- a Kodak easy share xx something or other-
The older 3 have cell phones they take pics with but I thought this could be a nice "pixie gift" as we arrive at WDW- Tell me what you think and any suggestions on inexpensive PnS cameras- TIA!
Oh! & I figured this was better fitting a subject on the families board rather than the photography board for the more obvious reasons- Thx!

I got dd8 a regular PAS last year, and she was fine with it. She also bought her sister's flip camera, and loves it!

I would pass on the cameras of the older kids to the 7 year old and get one of them a better camera.

I don't think the "kid's cameras" are really appropriate for school-aged children (better for younger)...they take HORRIBLE pictures...seriously, worse than the cell phone...I would buy maybe a cheap camera like an Argus Bean (it seems sporty enough to be somewhat durable) before I bought one of the Fisher Price ones

The FP one is fine for my 2 year old, he can take a picture, but we don't upload or print them

I guess I should add, we didn't but an Argus bean camera...it was just the same price with way more megapixels and looked like it would fit small hands :thumbsup2

I just buy my son (7yrs) a couple of disposable cameras with the flash on them. I also get him an underwater disposable that way he can take photos in the pool and underwater. He is desperate for a digital camera but the ones that are within the price range that are suited to him (ie if he lost it) take really bad photos. This year I have done the same for our trip in May. I printed out some disney pictures and got mickey/minnie stickers and decorated them for him. They are in his suitcase all ready to go.

Our oldest daughter got her first real camera last year (8). It's a Kodak CD93(3x zoom, 9.2 megapixals). We bought it on Black Friday for about $65, and also have a 3 year warranty! It's easy to use and she loves it - she takes it everywhere. No problems, yet. She saved her allowance and birthday money for a long time and really wanted a "real camera".

we got are dd a Polaroid digital camera at wall mart 2 yrs ago for her 7 th birthday and she loves it she has taken it on all 3 trips to Disney and her photos are just as good as the ones we took with are camera , she has over a 1000 photos saved and she loves to show people the pictures she took , we buy her a new card for it on every trip

Last year for my son's birthday I got him a Casio Exilim on clearance/display model for $30 The person who helped me pointed out these great features for my son--no view finder just a 3 inch screen, its small and just one button on top so no confusion which to push..

Thx for the suggestions- that actually may work to hand down the one from my 17 yr old but I still need to find a few in a good price range and not horrible pics - I hope that this can open up interest possibly and if not anything else- they all have their own cameras for trips, birthdays, etc and we can let them feel as though they are putting forth their own contribution to the trip- Thx for the suggestions on clearance cameras too- I am sure we can find a few of last years or 2007 models pretty cheap now- & I am trying to go inexpensive just in case... responsible only goes so far when your 7 and 10... But this will help them learn just as they had to learn w/ their game systems and games. So, I am confident they will do well with them.
