Could some of you camera experts please give an opinion on the Panasonic Lumix TX5, please. When I start looking at the details it may as well be in a foreign language. Any opinions of other options I should be looking at in it's class.
Thanks.

Maybe you shouldn't have asked for "Experts." ;) I'm not one, but while I'm here...

The TZ5 is a neat little camera. There are a few other options in roughly the same class... Canon SX100 and maybe the G9 are close. Ricoh Caplio R8. Sony DSC-H3. There are enough differences between these cameras that they don't compare well if the differences are meaningful to you. For the size and price of the TZ5, it's pretty hard to beat.

What features led you to the the TZ5?

the camera and features looks nice, it's about the same price as the Canon S5, smaller in size but not all the manual controls as the Canon.

Is this camera good (for a point and shoot) in low light situations? Thanks.

I think it looks like most Panasonics. Excellent image quality and impressive zooms, but beware the noise in low light.

Thank you. We are looking for a point and shoot with zoom and good low light pictures. I can dream right, this is the year of a million dreams!?! Thanks again, I will keep looking and comparing. :lmao:

The 10x zoom is nice and the 9mega pixels. I need image stabilzation and recognition stuff, because too many of my pics come out blurry. I would love something to perform well in low light and be small in size. Thanks for the hints I will go look up your suggestions.

I'm at a loss... I don't find anything on a TX5... are you sure you don't mean TZ5?

If that's what you mean I suggest the following link:

especially the samples page...

You might consider a Sony DSC-H3... its fairly comparable to the TZ5 but is cheaper... The up side to it is the ability to use filters on the Sony... there is no way of doing that with the Panasonic.
