Just a thought. As an owner also of a D200 that I love, I have been told by several Nikon pros that there is not enough difference between the D200 and the D300 to trade out. Now The D3 is a totally different issue. Save you money and aim for heaven!

Any suggestions for an easy to use and smaller bag that can handle a Nikon D40 with the 18-135mm lens attached, a small camcorder and a couple of tapes/cards/batteries/chargers? I do not need room for additional lenses.

I would think that a lowpro slingshot 200 would work fine for that, with maybe a bit or room to grow.

I will just ask for another bag as a gift if I need room a year from now ;) I dont mind having some extra room, just dont want it to be over bulky when carrying it around the parks etc. so I may look at one with more storage too... I wont rule that out. Heck if I can stuff some water bottles and kids drinks/snacks in it that would be a nice plus.

From looking at pics of the slingshot, I was unable to tell where a camcorder could be stored. Where on the bag does the camcorder fit?

I've got a Slingshot 200 and have put the camcorder in a couple different places. There is adequate room in the zippered pocket in the "apex" of the bag, as well as in one of the interior compartments, which can be adjusted as required, to hold your stuff.

Would also depend on your preference on the type of bag, do you want a sling type of bag like the slingshot 200 mentioned above or a messenger type of bag like a crumpler 5 million dollar home.
I actually bought those 2 bags recently and the crumpler will hold my rebel xt with 28-135 IS and a sony Sony DCR-HC28 with room for a couple of extra tapes, batteries and memory cards. The slingshot i havent tried loading anything in it but it will hold alot more than the crumpler.

I think I will need to hit the local stores and check these two out in person. I dont think I prefer one style over the other so I will give them both a once over.

Also check out the Tamrac velocity series, they are also a sling type of bag. I have a velocity 7 and have gotten the same equipment as in the post above plus 1 other lens(Canon 70-200 F4L).

What kind of bag do you take for your camera when you go to the beach or pool for your DSLR?

Currently I have a backpack style bag which I take, but then I also put the camera in a gallon size ziplock bag. Is there something better?

Thanks for the thoughts.

keep in mind that sand and salt spray from the ocean can be very bad for a camera..

Ok, maybe "complaint" is too harsh of a word.

I'm having a blast going through the photos from our last trip to create a PhotoBook. (I'm spending a fortune on it too, because we had so many great pictures and I keep adding pages.)

The site is very well programmed, and surprisingly robust for a web-based application. (I do wish it was possible to move a page. If you decide to change the order of your book, you have to insert a new page and start it from scratch.)

My biggest complaint is the limited number of page designs. I want to have facing pages be the same color -- an aesthetic thing on my part. I also don't want the same characters to appear on facing pages. (How can Mickey be in two places at the same time, is my thought.) There are also several background designs that don't exist for every # pictures.

I guess it's a nit-picky thing, but I really wish there was more variety for the page designs. I really like the Fab 5 designs, but how many times can you have the same exact picture of Mickey or Donald or Pluto in the book?

What would be fantastic is if there were some pages with no characters, but with the Fab 5 matching paper color. Then, you could add as many pages as you liked, and intersperse pages with characters throughout -- and not have duplicate character pictures. Same with the Classic Mickey pages.

Ok, rant over. I'm off to figure out exactly how much a 40-some page book is going to cost me!

so will you not be having pics of your family facing each other, how can they be in 2 places at the same time..??:confused3 :confused3

I used to use a Pelican case. I recently bought a Lowepro Dryzone bag. I'm not sure whether I like it yet. It's much easier to carry around, but the waterproof zipper is a bear.

I just received my photopass cd today -- and I popped it into my computer. I get the photo release, and I click agree. Then it says click the link on the left and a folder will pop up. But, when I click the "View my photos now" link, nothing happens! Anyone have this trouble. Am I missing something basic? I am so afraid something is wrong with my disk/photos...my photos already expired on the photopass site. I hope my family photos aren't lost...

Any tech suggestions...Thanks!

I made a lot of my own collages using my picture program and also used disney clip art from geocities to make the collages cute, then I uploaded the collages as 1 image. It worked out really good and I got LOTS of pictures in - with extra space for journaling. My book is a total of 60 pages (the max) and is currently being processed. I can't wait to get it!!! Good luck!

P.S. My book was $129.95 + shipping to HAWAII! - but I know it'll be worth it!!!

Doh! Now why didn't I think of that. Thanks for the hint for next year's book.

You're so funny! Good luck again!
