Being of the female variety, I'm in the don't like slings camp. I'm pretty average in height and build and the sling straps just don't sit right across my chest. I have a Kata 3N1 that can be worn as a sling or backpack (similar to the fastpack series, I believe). The nice thing about the Kata is that you can configure the straps so the bag "slings" over your right or left shoulder. However, I prefer to wear the bag as a backpack. By dropping one of the straps, the back can still be slung around to the front to access your gear from a side panel. There is a side panel on both sides, so you can configure the bag to be accessed from whichever side you prefer.

I use the backpack when I am carrying my larger lenses. When I travel light, I prefer a messenger bag. The Crumpler $5mil is my bag of choice for a messenger bag.

Do you have the 3n1-20 or 30? And do you have the Insert trolley? I really like the trolley option, but don't know anyone that has it to talk the good or bad of it. That is one of the bags/systems I will be pricing at the PDN show this week

I have the 30 since it will fit my 70-200 2.8 lens attached to the camera. I don't have the Kata trolley, but I do have one of those fold up luggage carrier things. It works really well. The bag also has a tripod holder on the front. It makes for a pretty heavy load, but it is easier than carrying a backpack and tripod bag.

I am another female in the "don't like the sling" camp. I have narrow shoulders and this was just so uncomfortable that I bought a lowepro backpack for the next trip. Even my kids hated carrying it.

What about the Naneu Military OPS Alpha-L ? Has anyone had any experience with this? It looks a lot like the same capacity as the Lowepro FastPack 250, but also has a tripod holder on it!

Does anyone have this bag? Or know much about it. It's more of what I am looking for. Iwish I could find a place nearby that had one to look at. I did notice that when I was at Best Buy yesterday looking at bags, that most there were a good $20 or more over the prices on Amazon.

Lowepro Nova 170 AW Camera Bag

I have the Lowepro 2 AW which is very similar to the 170. I have been pretty happy with it as it holds plenty of gear and is comfortable enough to have on all day (I shoot a few events for the town I live in and wind up with the bag on my shoulder for the better part of 12 hours on those days). My biggest complaint with it is that the D rings and snaps for the strap are all plastic. They have held up just fine but do have a tendency to squeak a little when I walk with the bag on. Nothing major but it can grind on a long hike.

My set up right now for home/work is a Canon backpack inside my Timberland rolling backpack. I hate having to unzip two things, but I can't find a rolling that I like yet.

I carry a canon 50d, rebel xti, 70-200 2.8, 580ex speedlite, 28-75mm, 50mm, a tripod, all kinds of extra batteries and knickknacks and whathaveyous. I have a hard time carrying it on my back.

I'm going to check out this Kata Trolley. I know that Jill E makes a rolling, but it doesn't get the best reviews.

I won't be taking that to the park, though. I will probably take it as my carryon, but I bought this a few weeks ago. I'm not enjoying it at all so far, so I may send it back. The zippers stick. It's annoying.

Hi,
My family and I (dh, and 3 gorgeous dds ;) ) are leaving for wdw 10/31. We are staying at the Kidani Villas :cool1:. In the past, we have pre-purchased the photo cd online. We love love love it! I went to try and do it yesterday and was unscuccesful, now I know why! To the best of my knowledge, we did NOT receive the email 35 days a go about purchasing the cd...does my husband have to call? What should we do to pre-purchase? Any help is much apreciated.
Thanks!
:)sss

I would call and ask hem to send you the discount email, we may have to call as well as we are going at the end of november

I'm online looking but can't find the cost? Can someone help me? I found the galley disk and the archive disk price but not the regular CD. Is it based on how many photos you have on the disk is that why I can't see the price?

So confused??

Ughhhh...already. I'm still tyring to get all the new stuff figured out in version 2. Why does technology have to move so much faster than me?

I was really really excited about this when I read about it earlier this morning. As good as Lightroom 2 is, there's plenty of room for improvement. I saw some of the initial reviews of LR3 Beta, and it looks pretty promising. Can't wait for the final version to be released! :)

If you've never tried Lightroom, now's your chance to try version 3 for FREE for several months during this Beta testing period! Otherwise, you'd only get a 30-day trial for the current version of Lightroom.

My workflow tends to involve exporting from lightroom as TIF, running the pictures through an external noise-reducing program which saves them as TIF to another folder.

Finally I batch process all this second group of TIFs to JPG, resizing them and sharpening them, in a script that runs in Paint Shop Pro.

Given that one of the new features of Lightroom 3 is a significant improvement in noise reduction technology, I have high hopes that it might significantly improve my workflow!

regards,
/alan

I bought the 30. I went to the Photo Plus Expo in NYC yesterday and looked at a ton of bags. I really liked all the features of Kata, and I found out it was designed by a woman. So that may explain why it fits better (it takes into account the chest factor). Anyway, I bought it but may cancel the order. B&H didn't apply the show discount on the bag or the ballhead I bought. So I need to call them tomorrow and either get a partial refund or cancel the order. I can get the 30 for $98 plus free shipping at numerous places online $30 less then B&H.

:lmao: Well that explains it! I thought all the pockets and storage areas were really well designed! I'm a very organized person and this bag really helps me keep everything where it belongs plus it has a great storage (ie, purse) area at the top.

I recommend any of the Crumpler X Million dollar home bags. I have the 6Million Dollar Home, and it fits my D50, 18-55 IS Canon, 50 1.8 Canon, 55-25Canon, Canon HFS10 Camcorder, and still has some room for 2 more lenses and stuff. There a little pricey, but WELL worth it.

I agree. I recently picked up the 5 MDH, based on info I saw here. Not a cheap bag, but outstanding quality and some really nifty features. I find the over the shoulder satchel setup more comfortable compared to a backpack, which was what drew me to the X MDH bags.
