Anybody stay here recently??? what are your thoughts??? what do they serve for their continental plus breakfast?

I know you said recent and my experience is two years old but I will post if thats okay! When we stayed there it was the Park Inn International. The rooms were fine, a bit on the dark side but no biggie since we weren't there that much. The best thing was the rooftop pool and hottub area. It is a great spot to watch the fireworks, the best out of the park place I have ever seen them. The Camelot is now owned by the same people who own and operate the Tropicana, which I have stayed at recently and love. I like the Tropicana more than I did our stay at the Park two years ago mainly because the rooms were a bit lighter and brighter. I hear they have identical continental breakfasts which are free but bare bones. Muffins, danish, croissants, lemonade and juice. They also had coffee, tea and hot chocolate. They have apples and oranges which they encourage you to take for later. For a dollar each, you can buy cereal and milk. There is no toast, hot cereal, bagles etc., like some of the other places on Harbor have. But again, its free and its at least something. I would stay here again, its so nice and close and that is worth so much in my book.

It had a couple of gift shops, a small laundry room and was right next door to McDonald's.

I hope somebody who has stayed a bit more recently can chime in. Also, have you checked tripadvisor? I am sure you can find a ton of reviews on that site. Good luck!

We were there in January in a Family Suite at the front of the hotel...balcony with a wonderful view of the fireworks! We always pick up muffins, danish, apples, coffee and lemonade at the continental breakfast. Camelot has recently been remodeled and we had more than enough room for the 5 of us! They also allow more than 1 car so that worked out great for us as older DD from San Diego met us there.
Other than one office staff member, the employees were very friendly and very efficient. When DD arrived about an hour after we did, she was greeted by name!
We will be staying there again in April and are looking forward to another pleasant stay! We also enjoy staying at the Tropicana but feel Camelot is a notch above.

We stayed there in December and liked it. The rooms and bathroom were new. The breakfast was not much to speak of. It wasn't bad, just not a lot of variety.

If you are on the McDonald's side don't plan on going to bed before the fireworks. (We flew in from the east coast, otherwise not a big deal) It was nice though because we could step outside and see part of the fireworks from right outside our room.

I would definitely stay there again. Really easy walk to the park.

I think you may have to share the last guest title with my DD. The park "closed" at 11 on Jan. 3rd and she and her BF were still riding rides until almost midnight :goodvibes My DH and I were already back at Camelot - yes, we did watch the fireworks from the balcony - and had to finally call them to find that they were still on rides! They did indeed feel as if they were the only ones who knew that the rides were kept open due to the heavy attendance that day...and they were lucky to close the park down!

Gotcha...I would be afraid of being caught in the "steam cleaning!" Hmmmmm...is the secret bathroom "near" Main Street?

I missed the fireworks in your tag. I was only mentioning it because it was louder at the hotel than in the park.

So we are not suppose to tell people were the secret bathroom is? :rolleyes1

nope...i mean how can it be a "secret bathroom" if everyone knows where it is??????

DH and I were really close to being the only ones left. We took a last quick ride on Spalsh and were wondering around after that ... suddenly we looked around and there was no one around in Critter Country. I was really really nice and so cool to feel like we were the only ones there, until we ran into the DVC cart (they are everywhere!). Which turned out to be a great thing for us cause now we are DVC members too! So watch out walking around when you "think" you are all alone :goodvibes

I am in the market for a room for the first night we are there before moving to the GC. We have stayed in a few hotels on Harbor, but none that are "right" across from the entrance, that is where I want to stay this time.

I am not touching the secret bathroom comments ... I know when not to poke sleeping bears

haha smart one;) you know when I was there a couple of weeks ago we stayed at the Holiday Inn on S. Manchester just for one night before we went to GC ...it was clean and big and it suited our needs perfectly...I got it on priceline for $45...what a steal...I posted some pics on tripadvisor of it...you should go check it out...

right now I am in the deciding mode as to whether I want to do Camelot or BWPPI...im really leaning towards BWPPI though...especially since its right across the way...and Im getting a good rate on it for being the middle of june:goodvibes

When in June, Lynn? I'm trying to convince DH to go June 10-13 (already have the BWPPI reserved), if Nemo opens on time, otherwise it'll be the first week of August.

I have it reserved as well:cool1: we will be coming in on the 12th and going to the park 13-15th...have you stayed there before?

We stayed there years ago, when my now 7 year old was just 1. We LOVED the location! My parents stayed there one night last week and also loved the location, said the rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast wasn't much, but enough to get the day started. The highly recomended it.

good cause im leaning strongly that way

Lynn, I was in the same decison boat as you, deciding between Camelot, Tropicana and BWPPI. I chose BWPPI because they have small suite for $145 a night that will be perfect for us and that location. Also, it looks to me like the free breakfast there might be a bit better. I'll be anxious to see what you think if you go there. We will be there just one week after you!

oh I will definitely let you know;)

We were there May 06' and the place was fine. It was a little old, but for the price and the location we were fine with it. The staff was very friendly, there was two store on site, roof top pool was clean and free breakfast. Nothing fancy but worth the savings.
