I WAS WANTING TO KNOW WHEN WE SHOULD LEAVE IT THE ROOM? I KNOW THAT THE SHOWS ARE OFF LIMITS. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE OFF LIMITS? OR MUST HAVE TIMES?

Keep it with you as much as possible. You never know when you'll accidently run into one of the characters, or have a moment that you want to capture on tape.

Cameras are not allowed in the Customs screening area when you disembark.

I learned on our last cruise that you may have trouble with your camcorder going from the room or any place inside to outside. My camera would fog up everytime that I did this. What I ended up doing was putting the camera on the veranda for a while if I knew that I wanted to use it later outside.

I'm presuming you mean that cameras can not be out and in use while in the customs area. I intend to have my equipment in the bag I carry it in and carry it with me. No way is all of that equipment getting packed up the night before! Nor is it going out of my sight.

Also - for anyone traveling on either of the cruises, especially if you have any relatively new pieces - like lenses - make sure you have written down the serial numbers and if possible have the sales receipts with you! I had a brand new Pentax with several lenses that DH had given me for Christmas/birthday in the couple of months before we sailed last. The expert and the camera store mentioned this to him when he was saying we were headed out and what sort of filters for the Caribbean sun. Boy were we glad we had those receipts - as customs really questioned whether we should be claiming them. Mine are probably used enough now - little nicks on the lettering, etc. that I won't need the receipts. I hope because I now have NO IDEA where they are!

Yes, Deb, you are right. You can carry your camera in the Customs area, but you may not use it.

Thanks Dave - I was really hoping this wasn't another new security measure. But with DH in law enforcement I know how many advisories, rule changes, etc. he has been receiving on nearly a daily basis over the last year. That is one of the reasons I keep track of the boards - trying to avoid any "unnecessary" surprises!
