Okay, I'm taking a camcorder to DL with me and am just wondering how easy it is to videotape some attractions. To be specific, I was hoping to sneak it on to the haunted mansion - or are they really strict about this kind of stuff - I've never taken a camcorder before, but I think I recall them not permitting cameras into live shows, but I'm more interested in taking it on some of the low key rides. Any info??

Cannot help you on HM but I have camcorded on the following: Splash Mtn., Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Casey Jr., Bugs Land rides, The Snow White Show, Alice in Wonderland, Autopia and the Monorail. I know you cannot camcord on Star Tours and TOT. I also think you cannot during the Aladdin show. I saw people camcording during Playhouse Disney. I also believe you cannot on Pirates. I am betting you would be fine on HM, just ask the CM. I don't know how well it would turn out since it is so dark in there. The only one of our above listed recordings that didn't turn out too well is Peter Pan during the part where you're flying over London. Splash Mountain turned out great. We even got the big drop which we still love to watch! I see lots of ppl recording during Snow White so we did too and it turned out great since the light is natural in there. It is so fun to watch your Disney Vacation when you get home. Disney should love me for doing this since I showed it to a friend and now she is planning on going later this year. She hadn't been since the 70's and thought it looked great!

I tried using the video function on my digital camera to record inside the HM, but it was so dark that you couldn't really tell what was going on. The same holds for most of the other inside rides as well.

I used to videotape a lot of stuff at DL, but we never watched them, and I think it's so much more enjoyable not to experience the park from behind a camera lens. I didn't even take the video camera this time.

I have used a camera inside HM and it is very dark.

We tried to get video of all of my daughter's "first rides." We had to use the "night vision" feature on peter pan. The video of her is just plain creepy. A little almost bald, glowing eyed 14-month-old who is staring wide eyed. When we showed the video to my mother she just shook her head like we were crazy to have video like that.

We mainly videotaped our first of three days. We found we were just spending too much time videotaping or worrying about the camera.

HOWEVER, my daughter frequently asked to watch "Our trip to Disneyland." So I know we will have our camera next time when her baby sisters gets her first trip to Disneyland (hopefully in December).

Thanks for the tips. I wondered about the lighting in some of the dark rides. I've never ever used a camera on a vacation before, but I have an opportunity to borrow one, so I thought what the heck! My boyfriend is also a little jelous that he's not going with me, so I thought I would video some stuff for him. I'm really not sure how much I will use it, I've just had some envie of people who were able to tape some of the parades, I always seem to get stuck with really crappy pictures of the parades!!

I hated trying to get the rides as it never turned out to be worth it- I have taped most of the shows, parades and fireworks which turned out very well and so I do watch that- I've edited everything that I could re-dub (ie that had a CD that I could re-dub) and I much prefer that

Now if I could get a CD of Tarzan Rocks... Id be in Heaven!
