Hi can anyone tell me if it will be safe to put my camcorder in the hold or should i take it on as hand luggage?

I've always taken my camcorder onto the plane in my hand luggage.:)

Me too always as hand luggage but make sure that it's fired up as I was once asked to prove that it works.

I've packed my camcorder into my hold luggage without any problems on previous flights. I suppose putting the camcorder into my suitcase is marginally less safe (possibility of damage through rough treatment of suitcase, or theft while the suitcase is in the system) but if I had had no room in my hand luggage I wouldn't leave the camera behind.

Regards

Rob

Up until this year we've always carried ours as hand luggage (in it's case). This year we put it in the suitcase in the hold and no problems whatsoever:D - but then it was rather wedged in between everything else crammed into that particular suitcase:rolleyes: ;)

We always take ours with hand-luggage. I think you are usually allowed a camera bag on top of the usual allowance for hand luggage??? (correct me if I'm wrong here)

Also, I love videoing EVERYTHING - from the minute we leave the airport, to arriving at Hotel or Villa........so I like the camcorder to be handy :teeth:

One thing to watch out is the wording of your insurance policy. Mine says that valuables such as my laptop and my camcorder MUST be carried as hand luggage or the policy in null and void...

We've always taken our camcorder on as hand luggage too.
