We normally just take our Canon SD750 point and shoot with us on all our trips since it fits right in out pockets. We also have a Sony Handycam that uses the MIni DV tapes that is small but does not fit to well even in my cargo shorts. We would really like to take video but the hassle of holding it while not in use.

So we have been looking at the New Flip Video Ultra HD and wondering if anyone has one. It looks very small and nice to capture special moments for computer viewing. Does anyone have one of thoughts on this?:confused3

As long as the camera can safely fit in your pockets, you should be fine. I wear cargo shorts with lots of pockets for various things I take with me and don't have any issues.

My DH was going to purchase one of the Flips for mother's day but after researching them and looking at the features and the price I decided to stick with my cannon SD890 IS since the video quality is pretty much the same and I get a better zoom. I figured I would just spend a little extra to get an extra really good memory card before we leave. :thumbsup2 This way we only have to have one item in our pocket/bag and not search for the flip and the camera, etc. :rolleyes1

But on the other hand 2 of my friends got one and both love theirs. The software that comes with it is very easy to use and it does take pretty good videos. You can also take a picture from the video once you load it on the computer.

I was thinking of getting a bigger card for my Canon SD 750 also , but the new Flip Ultra is HD! Then I can be recording video while the wife can still take photos or vise versa.:thumbsup2

Be aware that US/IOA is funny about cameras/camcorders on rides. HAd them make an announcement as Mummys started that the person with the cell camera ahd better put it away or he would be removed. THey made DH leave the car after boarding MIB because he had the camcorder in his hand. Told him he had to store in a locker. He was pissed about it because we stored in a locker at Mummy and they locked up and would not open, it took a supervisor like 45 minutes to open all of them for the angry guests.

I'm not bringing it to film rides.:thumbsup2

That makes good sense :thumbsup2

My DH doesn't know which side of the camera takes pictures so in my case I would have to use both :cool1:

Check reviews on the HD first, when I did the research the HD was not worth it because it was only good when you connected to a tv and did not work very well on the computer. I was going to get the new Flip that was about the same size as the HD and was rechargeable. It was about $50 less where I was looking.

Well I bought the Flip Video Ultra HD and its charging now. A sample I took seems real good. It has 8 GB of built in memory for 2 hours of recording. Also has a chargable battery pack or you can use standard 2 AA batteries which is nice. Very simple to use so far.:thumbsup2

Cool! I know a lot of kids my DD14s age are using those, and we also have a few belonging to the middle school that they take on field trips. LEt us know how you like it!
