My Wild Love: Yeah, I am also happy that the cambridge police were demanding a apology! I know I can't beleive(?) that the CAMBRIDGE MAYOR was NOT defending the CAMBRIDGE POLICE DEPARTMENT! That is something that I am totally confused about!haha!

I think that the mayor and henry gates were friends, because why would she NOT defend the city she governs? Does anybody else think that too?

Maybe she just doesn't agree with the way the officer handled himself. I'm not friends with Gates, nor am I black, and I do not agree.

why did his NEIGHBORS call the cops on him? do you not know what your neighbor looks like? obviously the neighbors were watching the house closely enough to notice someone trying to open the door, they should know what the man who lives in the house looks like.

the one and only way the professor resisted the cops was when he refused to show id, but later, he did. i 100% believe that this happened because he was black.

It was reported that the person who called did NOT live in the neighborood. She was walking bystandered. Just an FYI!

I dont think it was the Police officers fault at all. Like you said, theres always a reason. And I do not agree with Obama on that subject at all, I think he was being pretty harsh, the officer was doing his job.

that is just an exaggerated lie. if you were as up to date on the news as you like to pretend you are you would know that obama said that that arrest was stupid, which he later said he could have chosen better words. then he called the police officer and the professor and invited them both to the white house, to end the bickering back and forth between them.

i have been hassled by the police for being on my own property. and after that experience, i 100% feel that this man was arrested because that cop wanted to arrest someone. showing id and saying "i live here" isn't enough for some people.

I've been hassled for being in my front yard and I still don't see the issue. The arrest wasn't over the I.D. It was that after the office left the house Gates went outside and antagonized the officer. Gates was making a public scene so The Cop didn't wrongfully arrest him.

I would never fight it.
Imagine if by accident you set off the alarm in your home & the police showed up. Wouldn't you just be like "I'm sorry, that was an accident. Here's my ID" and they'd just move along.
