I love to look at all the beautiful Disneyland pics and I WANT some, I NEED some. :rotfl: I have to buy a new digital camera for our upcoming trip and would like some recommendations on what you all use and what is a good EASY camera for the photo challenged. My photos always end up weird and blurry on my 35MM and I want these to turn out well. I have a computer with vista op and a Best Buy close to home (not to mention my credit card) and am ready to shop. thanks for the help

I have a Kodak V705 and I love love love it. My pics at DL come out great in all conditions without having to change settings very often, very point and shoot friendly. It also has a dual lens with the wide angle so I get more in my photos from a closer distance which I love. The lens does not extend out of the camera body when you turn it on as some do, so no damage in your bag if it accidentally gets turned on. It is very slim and easily fits in my pocket, too.

Here is the link. As far as I know you can only buy it from Kodak still, it is pretty new...

the blur from your 35mm isnt the camera's fault. it blurs because the hand cannot hold itself stable enough to capture a perfect picture. This can often be seen at night when more light is required so the lense is opened a few seconds longer to which, it is hard picture to take.

Best way to solve this is using a tripod or have someone who can hold the camera very very very steady.

Disclaimer: im not blaming you OP, im just saying why the pictures blurr.

I like the looks of the Kodak v705. I have very nice nikon, that I can use very well, but my husband or anyone else that I ask to take a picture cannot get it to focus for them. All of there pictures come out blurry because the camera requires an extra step in order to get it to focus everytime. I'm used to holding the button down half way, waiting for the red box to turn blue, and then pushing the button the rest of the way to take the picture. My DH and strangers don't want to go through this....they just want to push the button and have the picture done. So, I end up with LOTS of blurry pics. I'll have to check the kodac out in person, and see if it focuses well in one click.

To the OP, I wonder if your camera is like mine, and requires the extra steps to get a clear picture everytime?

and we have a Nikon D50. The thing I like about the Fuji is there is no lens changing. The zoom is 10x. I prefer the Nikon for quality of Pictures but it's heavier and have the interchangable lenses. I hate lugging it all around.

If blur is a problem, I'd advise getting a camera that has Image Stabilization. There's a lot that have that now, in everything from compact (relatively) inexpensive models up to (expensive) digital SLRs. You might look at the Canon SD models - that's a very small easy-to-use point-and-shoot, and some of the newer models have image stabilization. I have an older model (SD300) and I LOVE it - it fits in my hand (and I have a small hand!) and 90% of the time it takes great pictures - doesn't do well in low light, though.

If you want something a little larger (though still in the "compact" range) with a larger (6x) zoom, look at the Canon A series - the new A650IS and A720IS both have image stabilization. They can be used as point-and-shoots, but they also have a nice selection of manual features if you are so inclined.

Check out www.dpreview.com - you can go to the "Buying Guide->Features Search" and plug in the features/price you want and it'll return a list of cameras with those features - usually you end up with a LOT more results than you really want. They have extensive reviews on a fair number of cameras, too.

oh Albort, I would totally blame me!! I am usually doing 10 things at once most of the time :rolleyes1

I really appreciate the help, I have been wanting to get a digital for a bit now and this trip is a great excuse to buy one. I just love the color and clarity of everyones pics and hope I can get the same results. And I will TRY to limit the distractions while taking the pic.

I agree!!

I would go to BB and look at everything they have to see what you may like. Go to www.dpreview.com to see the opinions of others. Probably should get something with IS, look at the total megapixels and sensor size and optical zoom. Once you have found a couple 3 that you like, search the net for them and compare prices and reseller ratings. I have used Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fugi. I actually prefer the little Sony I carry for the snaps(sony makes a good portion of the didi sensors for other companys.
Go to the photographic board here and sask the same question.

Buy something you like and can live with not something someone else perfers. Should get you started.

I own a camera store and FYI Sony and Kodak have very bad service if something goes wrong. go with a camera brand Canon, Nikon , Oympus. Your service if anything goes wrong will be so much better. Also format your card when you get it , I have recovered images from many a trip because the memory card gets corrupted. Format before you use it and every time you download your pics to your computer or cd. It will save heartache in the future.

Have had to send two Sony's back in the last 10 years and it was never a problem. Spent 4 month's getting service for my Canon.
My honest opinion is you get what you pay for, and people expect too much from limited resources.

I would love to own a camera store, but have been doing photography since I went to USC and Brooks back in the 60's.

I highly recommend the Panasonic TZ3. :cheer2: Check it out on DPreview.com. It's highly rated, has excellent Optical Image Stablization system and is idiot proof. :woohoo: I bought it a few days before a trip to China and didn't really know anything about how to use the camera but it was so easy! Easily accessible menu options at your fingertips, great low light photos. I was even able to take numerous photos while in a moving bus and they came out fine. I used up an entire 4gb sdhc card and literally had only a handful of photos that I would choose to not use. I was able to take multiple shots of scenes/things so I could pick and choose what I wanted. Also I take medication that causes my hands to shake and my pictures still came out fine. :dance3: I even took low light night shots and did not need a monopod/tripod for the first time in years!

Myself and my parents have owned several different Kodaks and never had a problem with their customer service. I usually buy my cameras directly from Kodak, too, and have found their shipping and customer service to be quick, efficient, friendly and knowledgable. Never had a provlem dealing with Kodak. I have also had to send out my Sony mini DVD camcorder for service through Sony under warantee and they were very quick and even sent me a free blank dvd because the one they removed from the camcorder was not useable anymore.

Scroll down... I've posted a bunch of photos from the Panasonic TZ3.
Check out dpreview.com to compare any camera you are interested in before buying it.

My DH is a Brookie!!!!!! Just had to share.

He had bought the Canon G7 last Christmas for our (cancelled) trip to WDW to use as his point and shoot camera, and we have been VERY happy with it. It actually takes a bigger picture file than his pro camera (until he gets his new one in the mail tomorrow, lol). It even takes decent video.

Just make sure you have enough memory cards for your trip. I had 3G and that was not enough for 5 days.

I have a Canon PowerShot A710 IS and I love it. Large viewer on the back and it is so easy to use! My parents and sister also bought Canon PowerShot cameras, but earlier than me so mine has more features and only takes 2 batteries!

Have fun shopping for your new camera! There sure are alot out there to choose from.

We just bought a Canon Power Shot S3. Does anyone have this camera? Any advice or opinion about it??

I think the S3 is a great camera. Big opitcal zoom, IS, larger screen than previous models. If you learn how to use ALL the features, it can be a poerfull memory maker.

We still have 2.5 months to play around with and will be doing alot of test pictures to get it figured out in time, such as Halloween, Princess on Ice, etc...

Take pics in every enviroment that you can think of, you can always delete but usually can not go back and do over. Memory is cheap and transfer as soon as you can, then back up to a disk.
