I need some help from all you experts here. I need to loose some weight before the Princess. Where is a good place to track your calories and exercise? Some good places must be out there. :yay:Thanks

I know several people who have had success with SparkPeople.com.
I personally use a website called Fitness Journal and love it! You can track exercise, nutrition, goals, use the writing journal and discussion boards...then again I am biased because it is owned by my BIL. There is a membership fee for FJ but SparkPeople is free.
Good luck! I have read that people who "log" are more likely to be successful!

I use and LOVE myfitnesspal.com!! I looked at SparkPeople for a little while, but some of the things I got email-wise felt cultish.

I like MyFoodDiary.com. It does cost $9 per month but their food database has a lot of national and regional brands so it makes it easier to track foods. And there is a recipe builder so you can put in the ingredients in your recipe and it will divide the calories and nutritional information based on the amount of servings you enter. The message boards there are great motivation too. I keep track of my runs and other workouts on the exercise part and it tells me how many calories I have left for the day based on my goal to lose 1 pound a week.

Thanks I tried myfitnesspal.com and I like it . I think I'll give that a try for a while.

Good luck!

If you want to add me as a friend on there, feel free. My user name is the same as here. :goodvibes

I definitely agree that tracking helps sooooo much!! I'm so much more aware of what I'm putting into my mouth, and I think twice about making some choices now. Do I have enough calories left? If I eat this, how much will I be able to eat later? Can I burn enough calories to make up for what I want to eat? (Oh yeah...definitely plan to eat at least half of your exercise calories back. MFP already has you at a deficit. Say it has you at 1200 calories per day. If you burn 500 working out and don't eat them back, you're making your body exist on 700 calories and will quickly go into starvation mode. I've been on there since August; I have a splurge day per week (nothing nuts...but I allow myself to go over my 1200 + exercise calories) and I always eat back at least half of my exercise calories (often closer to all of them now that I've got a heart rate monitor), and I've lost 22 pounds so far!)

I use fitday.com. It's online & free. Your food can be entered in, custom foods can be logged, exercise, weight goals showing you what kind of calorie deficit you'll need each week. I did purchase the software for around $20 so I wouldn't have to go online. That has added features and you can sync that w/ your online account.
I like it.

If you have a smartphone, look for an app called "lose it".

I have that on my iPhone. I downloaded it last year but only started using it seriously about 3 months ago. Have lost about 8-10 pounds since then. It lets you input how quickly you want to lose weight and sets a net daily calorie goal. Also lets you input exercise & computes calories burned.

I do not have a smart phone until the first of the year, but I will certanly get the app when I do get one. I do have one another question for you. I am running the Princess 1\2 and then I may run the Disneyland 1/2. To get the coast to coast medal do you have to sign up diffently. How does that work ? Any info will help.

I do love Myfitnesspal.Thanks

Yes, you'll register for them separately. As I understand it, they will have your time from the Princess when it comes time to do packet pick-up (assuming you sign up for the Disneyland before the Princess). You could always take a copy of your Princess results with you if there's any doubt. But they seem to be able to see - probably the whole active.com thing.

I'm doing the WDW Half and plan to do the Disneyland. My only debate now is do I go ahead and sign up online for the Disneyland when registration opens (1/3) or just wait 4 days and do it at the Expo for Marathon Weekend (I'm assuming they'll have registration for Disneyland available there...anyone know for sure?)
