Calling your guide

We are new members.....we are going to be making our first reservation this month for a stay over Christmas. We have 250 points. We will be staying 8 nights. Want to use about 235 of our points for this stay. We are looking at booking our home resort (blt) now and then at 7 months we will attempt to book Kidani Village studio SV. How likely will this happen? Do we need to call our guide for this?

Your guide probably won't be able to help you at all. Just call Member Services and make those reservations. One thing to keep in mind. Your BLT reservation may use fewer points than your KV reservation (if you get it), so you would have left over points to bank. Make sure you can still bank them and are not past your banking deadline.

If it's your first stay I would recommend calling your guide first. We did for our first stay and he was very helpful.

I just banked all of our points as this trip is in the next use year for us. I am just not sure where to begin or what I am doing at this point. Any helpful hints would be much appreciated! We are planning on staying 4 and 4 at each resort. Not sure which to do first?

Usually, a new member makes it part of the deal to purchase DVC especially if you want to stay soon. Since your trip is a long way off, I don't think your guide is going to be able to help you. Just make your reservation at 11 months at your home resort. At 7 months just see what happens.

Usually a guide gets permission to pull inventory from unsold inventory. But in a year from now, there might not be any KV inventory to pull for you at 7 months out.

I've also never called my guide for a reservation....I think if you call at 9am at your 11 month window and book your entire stay at your home resort you should be fine....at 7 months call and see if anything is available at the resort you'd like to switch to...
