Hi all! I am a new DVC owner and know very little about it or about SSR :confused3 . We are hoping to stay at SSR at the end of June in a one bedroom vacation home. It will be me, my husband, and my three kids (15, 12, and 9 months). I just have a few questions for all you SSR experts!!!

1. Is it a zero entry pool and is there a pool area for little ones?

2. Do they have life jackets or do they allow "wings" for babies? He certainly will never be unsupervised, but I like to keep his head above water at all times!

3. How is the bus service?

4. Could you please explain "trash and towel" service? Do you know how much housekeeping is?

5. What size is the refridgerator - is it the same as the ones you get at the Deluxe resorts??

That's all I can think of for now....I'm sure I will think of more!!

Any and all information about SSR would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Thanks so much!

The main pool is zero entry. They have a play area around the pool with shooting water from Donald Duck for the little ones, but not a baby pool. Not sure about the water wings or the life jackets. We took our 2 year old granddaughter and she didn't need either one. The refrigerator in a one-bedroom unit is a normal size refigerator. The kitchen is a full-size kitchen in the one-bedroom. We had good luck with the bus service from SSR. Some people have had long waits, but I don't think that is the norm. SSR has their own buses and they don't have to make stops at other resorts, etc. I can't really help you too much with the trash and towel. I just know that you don't get everyday service. I believe the trash and towel day is on the fourth day of your stay. I don't know what it cost. If we needed clean towels, I just washed them myself because you have a washer and dryer in your unit in a one-bedroom. Hope this helps some and have a great stay at SSR. We love it there.

I'll take a crack it, I'm kinda new, too, so I'll give it my best shot:
1) Yes, the pool features zero entry, and yes they have a cute little area for the kiddies w/Donald Duck.
2) I'm not positive because I don't have kids, but I'm pretty sure they've got life jackets, and I can't think of a reason why they would'nt allow swimmies.
3) I had no problem w/the bus service, I have mentioned before that a lot of it is luck and timing, the longest I waited (last month during New England spring break) was 15 minutes getting from Epcot back to SSR. In terms of how long the ride is, I timed the ride from SSR to the AK, and that took 28 minutes, they had to stop at Blizzard Beach 1st.
4) Trash and towel service means they come on the 4th day, check-in day is counted as the 1st day, and they replenish the towel supply, take out the trash, replenish the coffee. If you want to pay for mousekeeping daily, I'm sure that the studios are $25.
5) They're fridge (in the studios) are about what you;d find in the deluxe resorts. Fit my water and my beer! :rotfl:
Hope this helped!
:)

Full cleaning costs vary by unit size. A studio is $25 per night, a 1 bedroom I believe is $30. We like the limited housekeeping, because I rather prefer not having folks roaming around the unit when we are not there. Trash and towel is a service where you will get clean towels and the trash will be emptied on day 4 of your stay.

You are aware that this is a timeshare, and as such it is meant for vacation time. That is why the 1,2 and 3 bedroom units have full kitchens, laundry rooms and the amenities of home. A studio unit will be more like a hotel room except that it will have a kitchenette with undercounter fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker etc. The full kitchens will be completely stocked with the usual appliances and dinnerware etc. As most timeshares, there is very limited housekeeping. I mention this because many people rent points having no real knowledge of what timeshare stays are like. It also means there is no extra beds supplied if you are over the number allowed for that size unit. In SSR, the 1 bedroom unit will have a king bed in the master bedroom and a queen size sleep sofa in the living room with a Pac N Play for the baby.

Thank you for your replies! One more question in regards to the towel service....how many towels do you start off with???

4 sets of each-4 bath towels, 4 hand towels, etc.

We've stayed once at SSR as DVC members. We were traveling with a 6 and 3 year old and a 5 month old. You can get life vests from the rental place by the main pool called "Horsin' Around" or something like that. All you need is your room key to check those out for the length of your stay. Bus transportation was fine. The walk from Congress Park at SSR to Downtown Disney was very doable for the kids. A regular sized pack-n-play is available in the room.

HTH!

You sign out live vests at the bike rentals place, you keep them lenght of stay.

Thanks everyone! I was able to book a one bedroom at the end of June!

I do have another question though:confused3

As far as the water play area with Donald Duck - what is that like? Is there like an inch of water or does it just shoot out the water? Would a baby be able to sit down in it (with mom of course) and splash a little??

Thanks :)

Oh.....one more question.........can I request a certain area/building?? If so, where should I request? I would like to be close to the pool area and bus stop if possible! Where could I find a map of the resort? My passporter is too old and doesn't have one.

Thanks again!

I'll try my best to answer about the water play area (not really my forte :rotfl: )
it shoots out the water, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to sit in it and splash.
Yes, you can request a certain area or building, just remember that requests aren't guaranteed. I stayed in Congress Park room #2101. And it was maybe 10 minute walk to the main pool area/bus stop. There may be buildings closer in the Springs area but haven't stayed there yet. Did you get your passwords yet for the member site, that has a map. I believe you could probably see a map even with out your passwords at disneyvacationclub.com..Alos main DIS has a map, I'm pretty sure.
Hope I helped a little :)

The Donald Duck play area has a soft/flexible rubber floor with no standing water. I think a baby would do fine.

Enjoy!
