Hi

I have a few questions about Virgins flying club, hope you guys can help.

If I book a holiday with VH, can I still get points from flying club for the flights taken?

Anyone had a companion flight? I have 20,000 points now and I understand I can get a free companion flight. Is this correct, or are there restrictions on when the flights can be taken. Also anyone know what type of seats you can get in Economy, are X class seats open to this offer? For the seat that I will pay for. I know I won't earn any points on this flight. But a free flight for a companion for 20000 points seems a bargin. Maybe I can now go back to the magic in 2007!!! Roll on the world cup, when DH's defences are down and he will ay yes to anything!!! So he can watch the football in piece.

Yes, we've always received FC miles whenever we've booked through VH (in the past we've occasionally booked fly-drives rather than flights plus car hire).

We've managed to get both Reward (completely free other than taxes) and Companion flights. To obtain the free Companion flight, you do have to pay full fare for the lead flight. There are only a few of such places per flight though. For example, in Premium Economy there are only two per flight, be it Reward or Companion (so, say you wanted a Companion flight but someone had already booked 2 Reward flights, you'd be out of luck).

In my experience, you stand a better chance of getting these flights if you book as soon as possible (i.e. at 333 days out). Having said that, we managed to get a Companion flight for October and we only booked in March.

Miles plus Money, can sometimes work out cheaper than booking a companion flight as UKDEB said you need to pay full price for the qualifying flight on companion flights.Unfortunately VA seem to be adding more and more restrictions for all the flying club offers, there were no miles plus money flights available for Easter 2007 we have managed to get 2 companion flights for Easter but this has still cost us double what we have paid for the same 4 flights in August using miles plus money.
We always book these flights at the earliest possible opportunity, ring the FC and dont be afraid to ask for quotes & availability for companion and miles plus money flights. We've always found the staff really helpful at getting us the best deal :thumbsup2

Companion flights have only ever been of reasonable value in PE.

It has always been the case for both UC and EC that by the time you have paid for a qualifying ticket plus the companion taxes, you are actually better off getting 2 x SuperApex fares

I completely agree. Definitely look into the miles+money options as an alternative. :wizard:

What are they? Just the cheapest discounted rates which may or may not be available, or is there a way of getting them every time?

Hi

I'm saving points so we can upgrade to PE on our next flight. Is there a restriction on the number of these type of seats available on flights?
