Planning a short trip to DLP for the first time and want to use points to stay at Disneyland Hotel............I know that it includes your passes, but do you get breakfast included in the 'points' price too?!

Also, what has been your experience in terms of what type of room you are allocated? ANyone been upgraded above standard view?

I have been to Disneyland Hotel but not with points. We used our points for the New York hotel. Breakfast is included. These points are good for a family of four, so better value for 4 than 2 people.

They only offer a standard view. We had hoped to up-grade and pay extra when we got there but were told that the New York only had suites to up-grade to and these were all fully booked.

With hindsight I should have used the points for the Sequoia Lodge as these were much better value. I really did not like the New York Hotel and the next door Sequoia seemed so much more friendly and the bar prices were cheaper!! The Disneyland Hotel is truly beautiful but is an awful lot of points. However if you have enough points or are not planning to go to WDW then it should be a great holiday. I am sure we will go back to the Disneyland Hotel as it really does make you feel special.

Hope you have a wonderful time. I am also using my points to go for a week in Devon during February half term. This is 144 points for a week.

Let us know when you have booked.

We 'paid' for a few days at DLP a few years ago with points for my BIL and family. They stayed at Newport Bay? (I hope that's right) and loved it. Breakfast and passes were included but I don't know about the room they were given.

Several people have mentioned that they got rooms with good views when booking on DVC points. We got an ice rink view at the New York, which I assume is not a standard view - if so, it's a very nice one.

I don't think it's a given, but it has definitely worked well for some people.

We went with friends to DLP and used their DVC points to book 2 rooms at the New York hotel. We were also given ice rink/lake views and had rooms next to oneanother. We all liked the hotel and would stay there again. As others have said the package included breakfast and park passes.

We must have got the worse view in the New York Hotel overlooking the roof of the convention center!

Obviously just unlucky.

We have used points twice for the SL. The first time we were in a standard lodge room but the second time we were given (without asking) two Montana rooms in the main building with lake views - not just one category upgrade but two! I don't know what criteria they use as the hotel seemed just as busy both times we went - end of August.

We used DVC points last summer for 2 nights at the Newport Bay Club. Our view was standard, but we did manage to get the room by 12pm which was useful. Park passes and breakfast included and we swopped one breakfast in the hotel for the early fantasyland breakfast so we could eat and then ride before the park opened. Didn't realise until we tried to book though that you have to book a minimum of 2 nights.

We have used points for two children at DLP - on two occasions. Both times we booked Hotel New York and both times they got a lake view, breakfast and passes. Although many say it's not a good use of points, we can't agree - they went free! Particularly, as we used airmiles, so they went completely free.

We got upgraded to a suite at Sequoia when we stayed on points!!!!

But that was just pure "luck", our room wasn't ready, then we got there and the keys wouldn't work and when we finally got in the room was a tip!! Housekeeping hadn't been, the curtains had been pulled down from the rail...I've never seen anything like it...
so went back and complained and were flabberghasted when we got our new room, it had a hallway, kitchen, dining/living room and bedroom all with a lake/park view!!

I had looked at using my points for DLP, but I only have 150, so three nights at DLP and all my points would be gone, very expensive option i think.
