Okay, my family and I have a Standard Room booked for Jan. 26 - Feb. 2 :yay: . It's Me, DW, DS14, DD9, and DS1. I am considering upgrading to a Woods View or Courtyard View (With or without Bunks, doesn't matter). Now I've been researching the WL for months and have read most of what's in the FAQ thread. However, I'm still having trouble deciding which view is the best. I've heard many say that they like the Woods View on the North side above the Otter Pond because it's quiet and faces the Magic Kingdom. I've also heard the Courtyard View lovers state that the rooms over Silver Creek Springs are lovely. I know all about the "Villa" Courtyard View Rooms and to stay away from those. I've also heard that the Courtyard View Rooms can be noisy which kind of kills the mood of the WL if you know what I mean.

So, which is it? Where do you prefer and why? Courtyard View or Woods View? Which area of the resort should I request given the Room View? Should I just stay with my Standard View and hope for a free upgrade? Where are the best Standard view rooms located?

Thanks

We stayed in standard room 5048 and we had a perfect view of Wishes. I didn't realize it at the time but at night I saw the castle lit up through the trees and we were able to watch Wishes and Christmas Wishes sitting on the bed. During the day you see the smokehouse and generator but at night it's beautiful. The Contemporary was lit up and you could see the monorails going by.

You aren't promised a specific room # at WDW. We had a woods view w/patio facing the villas this past Jan (room # 2010), and it was perfect, no complaints. This coming Jan we have a courtyard view booked and are hoping to face the actual courtyard or the lake. I think a courtyard view would be the nicer of the two, at least that's what we are hoping for the week before your trip :rotfl:

Just a heads up, ask for inner courtyard, we were in room 6039 and here was our view, also not as noisy as closer to the end of the wings

While the courtyard view is great, it also picks up a lot of noise from the pool below, and that's why we will stay woods view next time. :)

That's what I was thinking as well. I've seen many complain about the noise which kind of gives the edge to the Standard or Woods View on the North Side of the Lodge. Thanks.

Need more experiences and opinions.

The north side can be noisy too, if you are a light sleeper. Especially the standard rooms since they are over the loading dock and the trucks with their back up beeping can start pretty early in the a.m. We were in a woodsview room but could still hear the beeping.

I guess I really can't use noise to make a decision then. Thanks for making my decision even tougher :sad2: . Seriously though, that is good information to know.

Nobody has suggested where the best Standard Rooms are located. Does anyone have any recommendations on Standard Rooms? Just curious.

We just returned from our first stay at the Lodge. We had courtyard view room #4017. I was afraid that we might notice noise because we live in the country and are used to it being very quiet around our house. We did not notice any noise from the pool area or boat traffic. When the slider was open you could hear the music and people around the pool, but otherwise we found it very quiet.

We had room 6020 which faced the Magic Kingdom and had a perfect view of Wishes. We were able to watch not only the monorails to the Contemporary, but lots of wildlife around the lake. It was a woods view room and we loved it!! I doubt that you can specify a certain room, but the area of the lodge which faces the Magic Kingdom would be the wing I would suggest when I visit there again!!:goodvibes

I voted for Woods View. During our last stay, we received a free upgrade to a CL/Courtyard room. While I enjoyed the view, I'd really like to experience the serenity of a view of the woods without the noise and bustle of the Courtyard. If you want to see the some of Wishes at night, be sure to request a room on the North Wing. :thumbsup2

We just got back last week...we were in courtyard view 2157 with bunks and my in-laws were in connecting room 2159 with 2 queens. We were down at the end of the south wing with inner courtyard view. While it was a hike down the halls, there was a back door down to the pool and across to the boat docks. It was nice to be on the same level as the lobby, Mercantile, etc...no waiting for elevators. At first I had woodsview booked, but then AAA came out with a rate for Courtyard that was lower than the Woodsview so we took it. Our view was of the pool and hot tubs, but I think I would have been just as happy in a woodsview. As for noise...the pool wasn't a big deal at all. We did hear the boat horns though, even all the way over where we were, so I think you can probably hear them from almost any room, depending on which way the wind is blowing. Hope that helps a little!

Inner Courtyard view is great. The noise from the pool is just a muffle (to us) with the sliding glass door shut.

The Standard and Woods view rooms are on the same side of the building. The view looking up and out of these rooms is the same on the North side of the building. That is you can see the monorail in the distance, Wishes in the way distance and lot of trees.

The difference between the North Standard and Woods is what is below the rooms. The maintenance bay is below the Standard rooms and the Otter pond is below the Woods view rooms. The beep beep beep of the trucks backing in can be a bother in the Norths standard rooms.

The South side standard rooms overlook the bus stop in the near distance.

We've stayed in all of the views.

Our favorite is:Woods View North side over the otter pond. Request high floor.

We just returned from our 3rd stay at the WL.

So far we have booked a standard and received a courtyard (bear face room).
Booked a woods and received a woods (high floor view of fireworks).
Booked a courtyard (received an inner courtyard upper floor room close to lobby).

It all depends on what your looking for in a room. With a 1yr old I'd assume you will be spending afternoons in the room for naps. The outer courtyard view could actually work well as it is very quiet. Though the views are definitely not what I would consider "courtyard." This quiet is also in some of the woods view rooms. However, the woods view rooms are also over the service area (you can't see this from the rooms) and it can be a bit noisy in some cases. Luck of the draw.

If you want the inner courtyard view (best view in my opinion) then ask for a room upper floor close to lobby to reduce courtyard noise. (We never heard a peep from in our room this past week).

I personally would stay away from the standard view. I've heard horror stories on the noise from the delivery trucks and with a 1yr old I wouldn't want to chance it.

Best of luck!

I guess I really can't use noise to make a decision then.

Sure you can! Courtyard View overlooking the Villas!

We reserved a Woods View this year but rec'd a comp upgrade to Courtyard View. We were on the side overlooking the Villas pool. It was extremely quiet on that side. We loved it!
