Hello all....we are going on the MAGIC on 11/30 and am a little curious if they are still offering the deals that they did last year for booking your next cruise while on board the ship...we got a pretty good deal(I THINK) by booking last year early and according to DCL was one of the criteria they use for upgrading people...actually the first criteria they say is being a Castaway Club member.....and if they still are offering the discounts...did the price go up much from this year?
Thanks....Tom

C'mon all....everyone is reading but not replying....you guys have to know something....I need your help!!!!
Thanks!

I picked up a rate sheet on the 11/2 Magic Eastern sailing...

Rates valid for most sailings commencing 9/6/03, 9/20/03, 11/1/03, 11/15/03, and 11/29/03.

Book a 7-night cruise and receive a $200 onboard credit, per stateroom.

Ex for 2 guests in a stateroom:
Cat 7, $1,099 pp
Cat 8, $999 pp
Cat 9, 899 pp
Cat 10, $849 pp
Cat 11, $799 pp
Cat 12, 799 pp

Ages 3-12 $399 pp
All other in the stateroom, $599 pp

Hope this is what your're looking for!

I thought they offered us practically nothing to rebook! It was along the lines of $200 credit! Why bother for that? It was not anywhere near a big enough incentive to drop the $$$ right then and there. Sure, I could cancel later if I changed my mind, but I thought we would alternate and do the parks next year anyway. I'll worry about 2004 next year!

It was basically $200 shipboard credit. We had already booked for March 2004 so we could get a secret porthole room this time. We booked again on board then cancelled our original booking and transferred to the orginal room.

We're just back, but didn't bother checking out the rates being offered on board.

I did talk to them when we were on our first cruise last November, and was very disappointed in the "savings" they offered.

BTW, we've sailed three times in the past year, twice as Castaway Club members and the "u" word (upgrade) was never mentioned. Maybe our stars aren't in the proper alignment...

See...I am a Disney veteran and unfortunately or fortunately however you want to look at it I get caught up in the "Disney Magic"...and we do the parks twice a year and this year being the 3rd in a row we are cruising....we booked this year before we left the ship...felt we got a pretty good deal....but who knows...we usually book all of our vacations by ourselves since we feel the planning is sometimes as good as the trip....and we were very very surprised when DCL called a week or so ago and upgraded us on the 11/30 sailing...and from what people say they hardly if ever upgrade...so we do feel very lucky.....so I guess we will just have to wait and see what the deal is...but as a creature of habit...we will probably book before we leave the ship......any other imput anybody???

Im making a DVC reservation at the Wilderness Lodge villas next Tues 19th for next October. (Dont tell DH) I will not be able to walk off that ship on Sat Dec 7 without my next vacation in the planning stages.

We're just back from the 11/2 Magic Eastern trip, and yes we re-booked while on board. They were advertising the prices noted in the prior post for only those dates indicated, but I suspect they were good for any dates selected beyond those as well (although they're only taking reservations through the 1st qtr of 2004). Interestingly, the Western itinerary was several hundred dollars more for the same category stateroom as the Eastern (apparently a supply/demand issue).

The incentive was not nearly as good as when we re-booked on the Wonder in Nov '01. The sales agent told us that we could have gotten off the ship on Saturday and got the same exact price from the DCL website as what was being offered on board, so the only real incentive was the $200 on-board credit. I checked it when I got home, and she was correct. Same price on line as what I booked on board. Aside from not being priced as low, there were a couple of other changes over last fall's on-board offer. The good: you get a $200 on board credit regardless of the room category. The bad : it's now a $250 per person deposit for the 7 day re-booking versus the $200 required last year.

No price break for us, but we did get the $200 credit for 2 rooms. We booked the Western for March '04 and I think it was $949 per person...category 10.

WE SAILED ON NOV 2 MAGIC AND PICKED UP THE RATE SHEET FOR ONBOARD BOOKING SPECIAL. I AM CURRENTLY ARRANGING A GROUP FOR NOV 1 NEXT YEAR AND CALLED DCL TO HOPEFULLY GET THE SAME RATES. UNFORTUNATLY THE GROUP RATES WERE NOT AS GOOD AS THE ONBOARD RATES. MY ADVICE AS A TA WOULD BE TO BOOK ONBOARD, AND GET THE GOOD RATES IF YOU PLAN TO TRAVEL NEXT YEAR PLUS YOU WILL ALSO GET THE 200.00 ONBOARD CREDIT. I COULD NOT EVEN BEGIN TO MATCH THAT. ANY BOOKING YOU MAKE CAN BE CANCELED OR CHANGED OR TURNED OVER TO YOUR TRAVEL AGENT.

We rebooked while aboard the Nov 2nd cruise for Nov 1st 2003. The advertised price sheet that they handed out brought the price for my cruise down $300 from what I paid to go this year and we booked in Jan 2002, well in advance of our trip. I know that we got a deal because when I received my confirmation in the stateroom it was $300 more that the price sheet. When I asked Donna about the price change she checked and there had been a price increase the day before I rebooked. She honored the price listed on the hand out and reduced the cost $300.

I know there are many NJ people out there on the cruise and if any of you rebooked for next years NJ week (Nov 1st) you might want to check your confirmation to be sure you received the price listed on the sheet. We rebooked on Tuesday of the cruise, one of her first reservations and I didn't bring it to her attention until Thursday. I don't know if she made changes to other incorrect reservations.
