calling all uk brides getting married in florida......help!!

Hi

Just been told my someone I work with that I need to get a wedding licence from the UK as well as from Florida. (I wasn't aware of this) I think she might just be trying to be funny, but I don't find it funny!!! Anybody heard of anything like this......need reassurance girls.......getting married next month!!! please help

I havent heard of this but i'm not getting married till sept next year. As far as I was aware the nmarriage is legal here

From what I understand, You only need a license from the country in which you are getting married.

no you dont.
you need to get your marriage license over in the states, then its legal over here. you dont need to get a license in the UK, you can register the marriage over here if you want but there's no legal need for you to.

Thank you - you have all made me feel so much better. I don't know if it is last minute nerves or what, but people are, I think, just winding me up with things now!!!

They keep saying things like you don't have stress if you get married abroad, whereas their weddings were really stressful because they had to arrange everything. I don't know what planet people are on, but why can't they just be happy instead of just trying to think of problems.
