To start, yes I am fly fishing for trout. Started Jan 1st. We have some pretty good Fly Fishing only, catch & release streams here in South Central PA. Mainly limestone streams.
Fishing 2 nymphs, a #4 on the main and a #12 as a dropper, I had 4 nice rainbow releases. All hit the #12.
A fellow upstream from me was absolutely killing them. We got shooting the breeze and he said he was nailing them on a Trout Magnet with an indicator.
Baffled ! ! ! I am not sure they are legal. They are unconventional in fly fishing, but they may be legal. I have not talked to anyone associated with the Fish Commission.
The fish regs book says: MUST USE A FLY ROD (no spinning, bait casting etc).
Artificial flies & streamers constructed of natural/synthetic materials on a single hook. Components wound on or about the hook . The 'about the hook' may make these jig head, mini plastic worms legal. Actually they would be a shad dart head with a (my term) mini plastic worm.
HELP ! ! ! What say yee. A stumped John.
