Hey, everyone!

Okay, so we are going to WDW in October for the Food & Wine Festival...Whoo-Hoo!!! :jumping1:

We definitely want to stay at one of the EPCOT resorts, so we can walk to EPCOT. We werent' able to rent points from a DVC member due to availability and the Disney Deluxe resorts are a bit pricey for us.

So, we have decided to stay at the Swan/Dolphin, which we are really excited about! So, now my dilemna is which one do we pick? It will just be my DH and me. Which one do you recommend we stay at and why?

Thank you so much!!! Mickey, here we come!::MickeyMo

It has been 8 years, but we stayed at the Dolphin and I much preferred it to the Swan. I don't remember specifically why, but I do remember that I made the comment that I was glad we picked the Dolphin at the time. Of course, over the years things may have changed.

We like the Swan because it is smaller and less crowded and the lobby is not loaded with convention people like the Dolphin is

I stayed in the Swan before, and staying this Aug in the Dolphin. I think I will prefer the Dolphin, because when I was there the last time, I spend most of my days walking OVER to the Dolphin, being they have more restaurants etc there. So I would go with the Dolphin.

We have stayed at both. I liked the Swan better it is nicer.

Also, check out Dreams Unlimited for special rates, teachers, nurses, firemen, Gov employees etc.....

Have fun. You can't go wrong for either one as far as location.:thumbsup2

I have only stayed at the Dolphin so I chose that resort in the poll. I think they are both nice. The Dolphin has more restaurants, Picabus (24 hour market/CS). DS and I walked through the Swan, seemed very quiet. DH are going back in October too (1st trip w/o the kids) and are staying at the Dolphin.

I think with either resort, you'll be happy - it is great being so close to Epcot.

I like the Swan better. But both are nice.

I thought by booking the Swan we would miss out on all of the restaurants at the Dolphin. Problem was after researching it seemed that the Swan had the large flat screen TV's and the queen beds and had just finished a remodel. This gave it an edge over the Dolphin so that is what we booked. Turns out we only used one restaurant and that wasn't even all of us, it was one day when my teens spent the morning at the beach and grabbed a bite to eat at Pikabu. It cost them $30!!! :faint: We found the counter service food along the Boardwalk to be cheaper for us. We did stop over at the Dolphin to check out all of the dining options and the lobby and after that decided that I was very happy with our choice of the Swan. When the bus stopped there it was always full of people unlike our bus stop which never had more than a few people there. We will always choose the Swan after that comparison.:goodvibes

I'm so happy you started this thread. We're going to the Swolphin in a couple of weeks but I don't know which hotel we'll be in. My husband is attending a conference and his secretary made the reservation. It doesn't really matter which she booked because they're sold out now.

We stayed at the Swan for a similar conference two years ago and I loved it! I actually started a thread on this board about how wrong I'd been about the Swolphin. I didn't think I would but I really fell in love with the hotel. Now, some people are saying that the Dolphin is just as nice, if not better. Sounds like I'll be happy either way!

I chose the Swan, since we've stayed there three times now and loved it!! The rooms are very nice, its really quiet, and its the first pick up/drop off for the buses!

That said, we are trying the Dolphin for the first time in a few weeks, and I am excited! On our last trip at the Swan, my DH kept walking over to the Dolphin for a drink, and upon returning from the parks late one night, we couldn't find a soft drink machine (except by the bus stop). So DD & I are trying the Dolphin! I love the Epcot area!

I didn't vote and the reason is because I don't really have a preference. We've stayed at both and honestly, the only difference is perhaps the Swan is a bit more intimate. The Dolphin is more hustle and bustle. But, they share all the same amenities. It's truly one resort with two different buildings if you will.

We'll be at the Dolphin in 5 days!!!!!! Can't wait.

Thank you everyone for your votes and comments! :-)

One more question....why is it that the Swan is more expensive than the Dolphin? :confused3 Based on my research for our upcoming trip, it looks like the Swan is usually about $20 a night more than the Dolphin...anyone know why?

Thank you again for all your comments..I can't wait to go!!!

We usually stay at the Dolphin, for us it is just habit, as we have stayed so many times. If the Dolphin is full, we stay at the Swan. We have stayed may times at Swan also. Either is great for us, they are basically side by side and a short walk can get you to any restaurant in either.

Rooms are the same, except for bed size. All have the wonderful bed linens and ammenities.

You will love either you choose!

My husband and I perfer the Swan to the Dolphin as it is smaller and just does not seem as overwhelming to us as the Dolphin does. It is really personal choice. We will be at the Swan for our most recent trip a week from today:cool1:
