Calling all SINGLE solo travelers

I will be visiting the mousehouse in early June. We are planning on going to Jelly Rolls since we are staying at the Dolphin. Do we need to try to go to Pleasure Island also? If so, what spots are best? I did like the adventures club last time. My group will have people in the age range of 32 - 45.

Brant, I know how you feel about not wanting to approach someone at WDW. My trouble is those men that don't wear wedding rings and are in the hot tub giving you the eye and then wifey & kiddies suddenly appear! Come on dude!

I guess I could qualify as a Disney loving man. I been crazy about Disney since I was part of the College Program the summer of 1993 and 1995. I've only made it back once since then in 2002. Being in the Army has not really given me the opportunity to make it back until now. I'm head down for 5 days in September and I'm count the days until then. It hard to expain to the guys I work with how I know the names of the Seven Dwarfs. I really enjoy reading this board it lets me know I'm not alone.

OK, here I go:


A Florida native and annual passholder who can't stay on property as much as I'd like, I turn 35 this Wednesday, May 25. My morning is booked -- a service club meeting in my home town, then zip to SeaWorld to cover the preview of the new Blue Horizons show for work. (Nice of them to schedule it on my birthday, I thought.)

I'm open to suggestions for what to do in the afternoon. Unless I tap my working friends, an Orlando couple, to keep me company that night, I'll be on my own. I don't mind dining alone at WDW, and I'm still nibbling my way through the buffets (I've yet to try a character meal).

Should I stop wherever it is to get a birthday button if I go solo, or will that just look pitiful? Most of my jaunts are solo, as my career and location limit my dating options. I don't feel left out when I'm playing tourist, but choosing to advertise my special day when I'm on my own seems silly, somehow.

Has anyone else gone solo on their birthday? I don't plan a special meal (although I might hit Boma, if the mood strikes and the wait's not insane). I might simply hang out in Adventurer's Club at PI until it's time for me to pumpkin and drive back home.

Oh, and I registered after talking to a couple of DIS members I spotted at the ADV Club, but this thread is what caught my attention first. I'm glad to know I share the WDW enthusiasm with so many other singles.

I've gone on my birthday once-solo, and had a great time.
I did get a button, it was nice having strangers wish me a happy birthday--Even at 47 I like to hear happy birthday.
I went to CP for dinner and they started the "It's your special day dance" at my table. Then my waitperson brought me a cupcake with a candle and the section I was sitting in sang happy birthday to me.
I had a great time, and am hoping to spend my next birthday back at the park and trying to stay onsite (I've never stayed onsite before).

I've never been to WDW on my birthday, but maybe one of these years. I think that would be the ultimate birthday present. Heck, it makes a great un-birthday present, too!

You'll love staying onsite, too. IMHO, it makes the trip that much more magical!

Well, I spent my 35th birthday this past November at WDW, solo. I wore
the birthday button (from the MK and Epcot, pinned to the strap of my bag),
and I parked myself all night at the AC, too.

I normally book dining reservations, but on my birthday, I winged it. I took
my chances with the open kitchen seating area at California Grill, and there
was a spot available.

This was not the first time I celebrated my birthday at WDW, but it was
the first time I celebrated it solo. Go for it.

SWF - 27 I've taken 1 solo trip to WDW and a few to DL. It's a totally different (and sometime welcome) experience. Will probably be taking more in the years to come since the friends are all married and starting to have kids.

This will be the first year in 7 that I haven't gone to WDW in November. Guess I shouldn't complain....visiting Paris,Venice,Rome,&London over the 4th of July, closing on my first home, and visiting DL in August(can't miss the 50th!).

Will be back to WDW in January for my first ever half-marathon!

I just returned from a 3 night solo trip to the WL. I'll be going with a friend Dec 4-11 and staying at the BC and Poly. I was from Chicago (Arlington Heights) until about 6 weeks ago. I am now only 80 miles from the mouse and see many more short solo trips in the future!
