We don't currently have tickets to the P&P party yet. I was waiting to find out how many of you will be there. If there is going to be a meet, then we'll be there. We've been to 2 P&PP's and both of them were lots of fun.

We ( Mom and I ) also do not have tickets for P&P party. Can someone tell me what is there to do? Different parade? Fireworks? Thanks!

Yes, there is a different parade, and different fireworks (for instance, during regular Wishes, the fireworks are more centrally located above the castle, but during the P&P party fireworks they seem to be going off from all over the park, giving the illusion that they are more of a 180 degree show.. )
They also have a "treasure" map that is fun for the kids, (or kids at heart!) that i believe you can go looking for chocolate and stuff - i believe there is also different characters around the park.

If you have on demand on your cable system, there is a cool show about them preparing for the first P&PP. It is on the Disney on demand channel.

We are totally going to the P&P party. I really enjoy it. There's also a different parade with a full sized Tinker Bell in it as well as the characters all wearing different outfits which make for great photo ops.

I was not planning on going to the PP party. I am leaving my family home and meeting up with a dear friend from high school. Unfortunately, we only see one another once every 2-3 years--or more. Our thought for Sunday night is going to church and out to dinner, but I have yet to pick a restaurant.

Hi ladies (and gentlemen!). I have a couple of questions. Do all participants receive a medal of just for the 1/2? I am running in the 5K, my first race. Also, I signed up online about a month or so ago. Should I have received something in the mail? Are we not permitted to run with an iPod? Lastly, are family and friends at the end of the race or can they watch along the way? Again, this will be my first race--of any kind so I'm a "newbie".

Thanks everyone!
Blakely

Hi Blake! I'm a newbie too so I really don't know the answers to your questions. I can say I received a confirmation letter of my payment for the hotel in the mail, but I don't remember anything else.

I'm going to be bummed out if I can't have my ipod. :sad2:

Answers: 1/2 Marathoners get the Tiara Medal. Most 5ks at Disney get a vinyl/rubber type medal sometimes related to a movie or a park or something. Just check out some of the previous race reports and you'll see photos. No, you won't get anything in the mail, Lately WDW sports are emailing you with instructions and waivers closer to the event. Princess Half is a ways off and they have the big January Marathon Weekend before that. Most 5ks are run in the park and usually viewing inside the park is not available. Viewing at the start and finish is available and usually in the parking lot area.

Hope that helps.

Just to add to what Tracy said,

For the Minnie 5k, we DID NOT get any Disney themed medal - it was strictly a red dress ( for the Go Red for Women ) and has NO Disney details on it, which bummed me out big time, as i was so jealous of my sis's 15k Minnie mouse medal!! So, i can't promise that you will have a Disney themed 5k medal, but with it being the first, you probably will - as tracy said, it will probably be rubberish.

Also, FYI - they do NOT allow Ipods/MP3 players. For safety issues. I was upset when I learned of this for last race (the 5k) but understand now.. as it is so crowded, that it's hard to keep track of people passing you etc. And for those concerned, really, there is so much to see/hear that you won't miss it. I promise!! They will have piped in music.

I did my Sunday outdoor (as opposed to TM) walk in the cemetery on Sunday. Somewhere around mile 7 when all the muscles in my leg started screaming at me, I got to wondering whether the Disney folks give a discount to marathoners on ECV rentals!! :rotfl:

I was pleased with my speed. I set my watch for 2 hours and did 8.52 miles in that time. The other weeks I was 8.03, 8.05 and 8.03 again. Since I got a new, flatter CamelBak I did some (very some!) running as well. I am trying to figure when I should expand beyond the 2 hours...

Hmm, I'm missing from the list... Please add me - going to be staying at OKW.

Think will likey do P&PP as it was a blast the last time. Just seems like price went up..again....

Hi
After reading this I went to look at the list:surfweb: just so I could get a charge to see my name on the list, and ooopss....it doesn't appear to be there.

I think I will be doing both the 5k (now that I know it allows strollers) and the Princess. We are staying at CBR and will be going to the pirate: princess: Party. My twin boys are 4y. o. and I will have them do the little race in their age group as well. Can't wait to see that!

I guess the closer it gets to the race, I'll have to train without the iPod. Could I wear it for my Nike+ but not have headphones in?

Even though the races say no Ipod, Disney doesn't really enforce it. Alot of people (including my mom) still wear them. She keeps the volume low so she can still hear what's going on around her, but she has used it for every Disney race we've done (4 in all) and no one has ever said anything to her.

Sorry about that guys! I will update you on the list when i get to work! :)

ghoulishgirl - Strange question: Did you and your mom do last year's TOT13k? and if so, does your mom have a minnie head tattoo with 15K inside it? If so, then I think that I have met you! My DH and I talked to a mother daughter team on a bus to SSR to pick up the race packets the day before the race. I keep looking at the picture in your sig, and I keep saying to myself that those people look so familiar... then it dawned on me this morning. If that wasn't you, sorry... and "Hi! to the mother daughter team that I did talk to on the bus to SSR!"

Back to your regularly scheduled race discussions.

Please add me to the list as I have now officially registered for the princess:

1/2 marathon & 5k
will be staying at BWV
have not decided about PPP

I can't believe this 1/2 marathon cost more $$$ than the Chicago Marathon

Thanks for all the info Tracy. I don't mind that the medal is not a Disney themed medal, I just want something to hold to remind myself what I accomplished--oh, and maybe a big hug from my kids!

I assumed it was a "no" to iPods. No biggie like you said there will be lots to see/look at! Wonder why the medal is rubber and not plastic? I wasn't expecting anything fabulous but rubber? That is just odd.

I can...it's Disney after all!

The Minnie 5K was the only 5k that was not Disney themed because it was sponsored by the "Women Go Red" campaign. All others are Disney themed!
