Syko...what's going on with your wheels? (Sorry if I've missed the conversation). Has WDW said you can't race with your current setup?

They said that I was dangerous to others!!!! If I wanted to compete then I had to have a biked escort for the runners / walkers saftey, and a biked paramedic, and I had wait to start last.
There allso asked my my medical info!!!!!!(against ADA law so not happening).
With raceing wheels thay can not treat me any differently, but thanks to all the support from WISH they have said that I can have the same amount of time.

Now I am just waiting to hear if I am going to get the sponsership (looks good) as I can not afford the $3,750 for new wheels, and then if they can be made in time.

My name is Becky. I had posted a few times when this thread was initially created. Then I broke my foot.

I am now signed up for the 5k. I really wish I was doing the half, but since I broke my foot I did not plan on going at all. So I did not start training until recently. I found a great deal on airfare so decided I wanted to go anyways.

I think I am going to sign up for either the half or full for January. I know I must decide soon but am not sure which one I want to do.

I also think I would like to attend the pasta dinner on Saturday. Can I attend this even though I am not doing the half?

:woohoo: I'm so excited that you are going to be there as well. Of course, you can attend the pasta dinner on Saturday! Chuck & I are looking forward to spending some time with you. I am thinking also of doing the January Full (or Goofy).

I've go it.:cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2:
I need to sort out the money / ordering the chair with them on monday, but I just got the call!!!!!!!!
It also looks like I will be able to do the ESPN 5K too.:cool1:

That's brilliant news- i'm so sorry that you had to go through that at all tho! How very rude to even suggest you'd be a danger. Oh i can't wait to meet all of you guys

Hi - I am signed up for the 1/2 marathon and 5k. Due to craziness at work, I'm a bit behind in my training. However, I did 2 mid-week runs and a 6 mile long run this morning at the indoor track (thanks to below zero windchills!) so I'm back on schedule.

Couple of questions -
Race retreat sounds interesting (except for the $95 price). Has anyone done this at a prior Disney event? What perks did you get and did you feel it was worth it?

Post race party at HS. I just made my dining reservations and noticed that HS is open until 10 for EMH. Why would anyone pay extra to be at a park that is open anyway?

I'm not staying at one of the "official" Disney hotels. Are taxis easy to get or do I have to arrange one prior to race day?

Thanks...

Same here! :thumbsup2 We'll have to compare tattoos!! Although, i also have Cinderella and Prince Charming tattoo'd also! LOL But i love tink!

**Thank you to everyone for your support!!**
One of DH's test came back negitive today, so we know he's not bleeding internally! :thumbsup2 So, now we have to figure out the cause of the low hemoglobin/red cells, but at least now we know it's nothing major (so at least we don't think anyway!) So, that was a sigh for now!

As for my car, well $400 later... and a new water pump, :scared: All better. Although,,my dh has warned me now that he is NOT spending another dime on that van.. :sad2: It's paid off next month, and now we are going to be buying his dad's old work van, so it will all work out. :thumbsup2 Although i did NOT need a $400 bill right before vacation!!! That's alot of Pina Coladas! :lmao:

Syko, glad you got your sponsor!! Congrats!!!! :cheer2:

Welcome to the new runners/walkers!!

I am going to be updating tomorrow and posting designs.

My dd's bday is tomorrow, she turns 8.. and poor thing got sick (stomach bug) on friday a.m. when she woke me up at 4am and said she "missed" when she got sick.. :crazy2: Wonderful.. Then later that night she had a 103 fever.. Same as last week!!! :sad2:
Anyway, i had to play the precaution card and cancel her bday party for tomorrow, just to be sure she gets better. So, she is a bit bummed about that, but we are going to go out for lunch with my inlaws, as my dd is feeling much better now.... but the only chance i had to get ahold of her girls in her class to cancel the party was by calling her teacher to relay the message on friday. So, there was no undoing that.. I told her we will definately reschedule.

Man....what a week. :faint: :faint: :faint: I guess they say things happen in 3's! :confused3

Didn't get my 8 mi.s in today, i was just too tired from being up with dd yesterday.. but planning on doing it tomorrow.. it's hard when you have to plan on being on the TM for that 2 hr. time frame! I never realized how you have to totally plan it around your day!

Thanks for being patient with me as i play "catch up", but i needed a lil' break.. :grouphug:

I ran my 4 miles today in 59 minutes which included a 1 minute potty break. I think I'll try to continue training at that speed. I am doing the Marathoning for Mortals Walk 3 minutes / run 2 minutes. I walked at 3.3 and ran at 5.3. This worked out ok for the 4 miles. I still had energy left when I got done.

Pixie dust and prayers work every time!!! That is such great news! :thumbsup2 Please keep us updated and we will see you in a few weeks. :goodvibes

Stacy, honey please take care of that family of yours! Glad to here the your DH's test have come back negative! Sending you lots of prayers  .
Bummer about the van. My Explorer craped out on me the month after I paid it off. :sad2: That really sucked! Pixie dust that things work out! pixiedust:

Had a good 6 miles this morning. 90 min. Not too bad. I fell this evening on the cobblestone outside of the restaurant. Banged up my knee really bad. It is the size of a grapefruit right now. :sad2: I am going to try and ice it really well tonight. Just when I think I am getting back on my feet I have a set back. :crazy2: Let's hope I can make it to March without getting hit by a car or something!

I am also excited. I just need to work out details. Right now my life is crazy as you now. I really do not care if I have much planned as I just need to get away.

I definitely want to meet up with you and Chuck.

Going to try for 7 miles today. We are at my parents right now so once we get home I am going to try. I hope I can get in all 7 after being sick last week and not training at all. I may take my 5 Hour Energy to help me through it.

Ok, so now i gotta ask, what is up with that 5 Hour Energy stuff...? What exactly is it made of that give you the energy??

First, hugs to Stacy:grouphug: and whoever else in our group needs a hug.

On my walk yesterday I came up with some questions, for you experienced Disney Marathoners. I noticed while reading our posts, that others have posted some ques. that haven't been answered yet, so I am posting them again as a reminder (and b/c I want to hear the answers). First, MM's questions:

Stacy's will probably be answered pretty fast, but here it is again:

And now mine... I would love, if someone has the time, to give us newbies, a sort of "blow-by-blow" of what we can expect on race day. For example,
1. what time should we get there,
2. how do they move us into corrals,
3. how far back is the "slow/Donna" corral before we even get to the starting line,
4. how serious is the 16 min. sweep time
5. at what point should we raise our victory arms at the end of the race for the photo-op
6. did I read somewhere that there is a "specialty" tent for afterwards

How is that for some questions. I'm the kind of person that likes to visualize things, and I would love to have more real-life knowledge going into this. If there is more information regarding a real race, that I haven't even brought up due to my naivete, please share.

Thanks, Donna:thumbsup2

Hi Donna,

Here are some answers I think will happen based on the WDW 1/2 I have done as part of last 4 Goofy's:

1) If you stay at host resort, they will bus you. I expect that last bus will leave around 4 am(like Jan 1/2). I would drive not much later than that as you want plenty of time to deal with traffic since only 3 resorts offer buses and everyone else will be driving. Get there early, relax, and chat with friends.

2) They will start to call you to the chutes around 5:00 am. You have about a mile walk before you are broken into your corrals.

3) depends on what you put as estimated time. They don't tell you corrrals until expo. I have been able to get them early for the marathon from source before and will try again for Princess.

4) They are strict about about 16 min pace. This starts when last person crosses the start line. Keep pace early so you don't fall behind.

5) I would raise your arms as you approach the last timimg mat. YOu can hold them up proud and they will get you.

6) Don't know :confused3

Thanks so much.

1) I am actually not staying at a host resort (WL instead). Will the cabs get me in as close as the buses would have? Are we talking about the Epcot parking lot?

5) What is a timing mat? Will I know it when I see it?
