Calling all past cruisers! Cruising in July

Hello all of you past summer cruisers,
I'll be in Orlando for a conference in late June and am considering flying my DH down for a quick 3 day cruise on July 1 but the prices are outrageous! Right now travelocity has an inside cabin on the July 1 cruise for $659 per person! Yes, my jaw dropped!!!! My question is, do you think the price will drop down much or will it stay pretty much as is? July isn't exactly prime time for a visit to the sweltering caribbean, gee whiz. It seems like it would be a lot cheaper to kick around Orlando and the theme parks instead at that time despite the crowds. Any thoughts or past experiences would be appreciated.

My family and I went to the parks and then on the wonder 7/13. First, yes the parks are crowded but a little planning and it works...Oh, yes, it is very hot

Now, you are right that the July cruise prices are high..there is a site somewhere you can see a comparision of prices throughout the whole year and Christmas and Spring break are the only more expensive weeks - in fact just waiting until the end of July is less expensive. For us, however, that is when my vacation is so - that is when we can go...

Now about the heat - well, it is warm BUT still very nice. Nice breezes - IMHO, don't let the heat keep you away.

My suggestion - if you can go at another time - and will do so (not just think you will) - you can probably buy plane fare for both you and DH and get a veranda for the same amount of $ during a different month
On the other hand - if you may not do it another time, don't miss the chance

logically why are the prices high when the weather is so oppressively hot?......summer is when kids are off from school, and, like holidays, DCL raises the prices accordingly....it's just one of those things in the travel industry....

My advice, go in early December....the pricing is great (the $ you save vs going in July will fund your airfare), and the weather is beautiful....
