When do the freckles show up??

DS4 (below) now looks just like "Opie Taylor", since he has gotten a short haircut. Except for the fact that he has NO freckles, not a one. I have red hair and numerous freckles. I don't think I have ever seen a redhead without freckles, but I suppose they exist. If he is going to get them, should he have them by now?

only gets freckles if she is out in the sun.....and she tries not to get any burn or freckles......

DS is too young yet, but mine started showing up about that age, when I started spending lots of time outside, unprotected by sunblock. I might have been in kindergarten.

For my DD it was around 5 or 6. She's not covered, but has some on her face.

My red-headed babes are 16 and 14, and both probably got freckles on their faces when they were 4 or 5. They've started to fade slightly on my daughter's face (she's 16 now).

Both play outdoor sports (daughter-soccer and son-baseball) so they tend to get them on their arms and shoulders, especially in the summer.

I got them around 6 or 7. DD, now 10 1/2, got them around the same time. Seems to me they start showing up after the kiddos have been out in the sun unprotected for a bit. Sad to say we start getting lazy about that age. Not anymore tho. My dd has a nice red back/shoulders from swimming yesterday at 2:30!!! Figured she would be fine. Not so. When we come back from WDW she always has a lot too, then they fade during the winter.

My niece is 6, she is just starting with them across her nose. Her brother who is going to be 4 doesnt have any yet.

DH is a redhead, do I count? I feel like I'm his parent most days!!

He has few freckles... his mom used to be covered in them (a redhead as well) until she was badly burned by a pressure cooker and they are all gone... she was GLAD she lost them, though. I've seen pictures of her with them... DH never really got many, but he Really protects himself in teh sun. Neice, another redhead, is 8 and has some...

My sister and my mom are red heads and in the summertime their freckles tripple in the sun. It makes them look really tan (even though their skin type only burns!!)

I have brown hair and my freckles are just recently coming at age 24. My dad and I harass my mom and sister saying their freckles are rubbing off on me.

I have two redheads, down here in sunny Texas. DS is 13 and has a few cute freckles on his nose and cheeks - none to speak of anywhere else. (He actually tans very nicely.) DD is 8 and at about 5, started to get a lot on her face. They are cute as can be. So far, none on her body. My sister has red hair and her arms and legs were covered with freckles by early childhood. My sister can't believe that none of her kids were redheads, but that I got two!

I'm a redhead, but no freckles! Most of my cousins don't have them, either.

I have 2 redheads and they now have a sprinkling around their noses, but I know they didn't get them when they were toddlers. My almost 12 yo is starting to get them on her arms. Even though I send her to school with sunscreen, I don't think she uses it and recess is long enough to get freckles.

My sister and I are fair and get freckles and I remember my little red-haired cousin dying for them around age 5 so he could be like us and of course now he's covered!

When I was little I had red hair till I was about 5 then it turned brown. I always, always get freckles as soon as I go outside in the spring or summer. I love my frecks. (That's what I call them, I know, I need help)

DS 24 was just complaining about them while we were in WDW last week. He wanted to know why all of a sudden they appeared on his thighs. Didn't have them before. He's been in a lot of sun lately and not always protected with sunscreen. I'm guessing that may be the cause?

I am not a redhead(brown) but I have a ton of freckles.
Both my children(brown haired and blonde) have freckles-though not as much as me, just a sprinkling on their nose area.
They both started getting them around 2 or so.
