You all are scaring me that I will not be able to find so much as a bread crumb in your grocery stores. I got my flight changed to fly in tomorrow evening & I'll need some staples. Can I still find diapers, water, milk, bread, lunchmeat, snacks, etc in your grocery stores? Or do I bring my own diapers, use my Brita fill-n-go for water & eat out for the rest of my meals??

unlesss you are getting here before 5 you will not be flying in tomorrow airport is scheduled to close at 5.
You prob will NOT find anything becuase evryone will be at home hunkered down preparing for a very rough night. If you can find a place open you may luck out with some diapers but i doubt it.. I would stop and pick some up for you and have it waiting for you at disney but we do not have gas in our town anymore so I will save my gas to get to disney.... Our stores were out of milk and cereal and water at 9:30 when i sent hubby out for a few last minute things.. good luck....
what hotel will you be at If you are serious I could stop at 7 eleven on my way.....for diapers...

Do you know whan the airport is scheduled to be open again?? I am supposed to fly in to Orlando on Monday at 9:30 and I'm worried the airport will still be closed.

Thanks for your help and I'll be praying for all the people of Florida this weekend.

THey have not said but i imagine if there is no damge to the airport and the winds have died down like they say (middle of night sunday) it should be up and running in the AM.. with frnaces they were flying people out by 8:00 monday mornign after the storm sunday... Good luck you should have a great time if you are stayong at disney.. we stayed afetr frances casue we had no power and we had a wonderful time parks were not crowded and the weather right now is awesome nottoo hot not too cool.....

If you get in Saturday evening, you will probably not find a lot open. The places that seemed to stay open latest before Frances were the Winn Dixie stores. If you take SR 417 (the Greenway) to Disney, you can exit at John Young Parkway and go south about a block to find one.

As of Friday evening, storee shelves weren't quite bare of stuff like diapers, but bread is hard to find. Water is hit-or-miss. Places run out quicky but are also getting shipments in. You'll find some snacks (potato chips) but others (granola bars) are all sold out.

Inbound flights will probably resume Monday morning. They want inbound flights to get airplanes here so that the outbound flights can get started.

Good luck!

Well, we decided to weather the strom in the comfort of our Maryland home! We'll try to come down on Monday to make the rest of our trip.

I just checked the MCO website and they are still saying that there are no plans to close the airport, but that individual airlines are cancelling flights. I'm confused!

Erin, sorry about your change of plans! Hopefully everything will be up and running by Monday for you. We arrive Tuesday morning and am hopeful that there won't be much damage, both for our get-away and of course for the residents that have to deal with yet another hurricane. What a terrible year for the bad weather!

Now different info on the MCO website. Airport will be closed from 5pm today through noon on Monday.

The airport didn't want to be used as a shelter. So they are trying to close early enough to get everyone out.
