Calling all NY DISers

Hi Saratogans,

All the SP's mentioned are beautiful to visit. Taughannock has to be my favorite out of three. You can trek all the way up toward the "Fall". If you don't mind getting wet, take the water path up.
Have a great time!! :wave2:

Ooh, a water path sounds great right about now - very hot and humid over here in Toga Town. :sunny:

We won't be able to do too many wine tastings with our young kids along, but I think they can struggle through one or two a day. We're planning on Corning Glass museum, Watkins Glens, the Sciencenter in Ithaca ... and some fishing and swimming in Seneca Lake which should be in walking distance of the house we rented. :jumping2:

I should tell you I'm just anxious to get out of Saratoga in August, when it seems the whole rest of the state is here as tourists. :smooth:

Do you know that Corning Glass Musuem offers free admission to kids? Have AAA? there's a discount for adults using the card. Fishing at the lake can't be better. DH fish almost every day on the lake (he would if he could) Lots of fish. Happy hooking :thumbsup2

Good morning neighbors :sunny: Is anyone driving down? :car:

I drove down last summer, stopping at Gettysburg (for the day) and Savannah (just spent the night) on the way down, and coming back up in one shot. Give me a yell if I can help you with anything!

Thanks! :boat:

If you are going to be near Ithaca.... I just took my kids (5&4) to the Museum of the Earth at the Paleontological Research Institute in Ithaca. They loved it!! There is a website with all the info. It was our first time to Ithaca - we live in Syracuse, but have never made the trip down. The M of E was VERY hands on and interactive. We were only there for a couple of hours, but could have spent longer. For kids who are interested in dinosaurs or fossils as my kids are, this place was great! Haven't been to the Sciencenter yet - that is on the schedule for next month. Would love to hear more about that!

WOW! :cool1: I just checked it. Usually we go in February, during Presidents week. But this year we went :moped: to Disneyland. After seeing the site you sent, I think I'll be back in February! Thanks for the info! :goodvibes

QUOTE=welovedis]If you DD loved the "old" Strong Museum, you've gotta check out the new Strong National Museum of Play as it is called now, all I can say is WOW![/QUOTE]

I am here in Victor, NY. We head down in August. Count me in on anything! :rolleyes1
My kids go to Victor, we are also going in AUG. 27-Sep.1 how about you?

We drove down a year ago this August with dd(4) and neice (7) at the time. We were all so very excited the girls we had to force to close their eyes and go to sleep. DH and I drove straight through. Got in Orlando at 3:00 found a hotel and slept for a few hours before we could check in. I know we could have gone and had the resort hold our bags but we just took it easy that first day, Ma and Pa were still a little tired.

Good Morning again! :sunny:

Thank you for offering your help. I have planned almost everything already.(Thank God) Only 14 more days to go! :cheer2:
We will be leaving ~4:30 a.m.Sat. with an over-niter @ Florence, SC. We plan to finish the last leg w/an early start(5:00am) That will hopefully get us to the World by 1:00pm+/-.
After getting checking in(too early for the room to be ready, I know  ) DBoys can go to Disney Quest @DTD while DH and I shop at the Outlet place not far away :woohoo:

Just found this thread. I'm from Long Island. We are going down Sept. 27-Oct 4. Staying offsite at Horizons and Vistana (Yeah...doing the timeshare thing!) Now I am flipping out because I don't have any ADRs or plans yet. AHHHHHHHHH........ :scared1:

My DD will start Kindergaten in the fall. My DS is 3. We are going to be in Disney Aug 21-Aug 27. I don't think our paths will cross at Disney this time. We are palnning on spending some time in Disney on the 27th, but not too long. We are driving home.
Where are you staying? :cool1:

Depew NY, here right outside of Buffalo.

I would be interested in a meet if not too far. I would just have to convince my DH.

We took DD3 to The Strong Museum of Play this past week and all I can say is WOW! I'm so proud to have the 2nd largest children's museum in the country in my home town and it's not just ginormous but top-notch to boot.

Anyone coming to town with a boo-buddy (or two) should definitely go. Not as good as Disney but I think it's the best hometown remedy out there.

We went two weeks ago and had a blast! The kids really enjoy the Reading Adventure Land. It's a great place to go for the day. :cheer2:
